So what was the point of this flashback?! It didn't tell us anything we didn't know, and it wasn't exactly entertaining either.

I mean, if you're in a slump and don't have two ideas to rub together, there are a million better ways to waste a couple of weeks without making any actual progress. Just draw some more Tomo beating Jun (whether literally, or in sports), Tomo all-but-confessing to Jun and Jun not getting it, Whatshisname-san hitting on Misuzu and getting sinisterly shut down, Tomo-chan pointing out she's a girl afterall, only to do something incredibly non-girly in the next panel, ANYTHING! Anything would have been better than to waste all this time on a flashback about stuff we already know.

It's like this is some sick psychological experiment on how much pain people are willing to take. It's like being trapped in a loveless, suffocating relationship that all love and joy has been sucked out of it, but still goes on for appearance's sake. It has all the excitement of a boring office job without the prosepect of a rise or promotion. It's like hell itself, only without the excitement of seeing demons torture people or the pleasant warmth of fire and brimstone. It's like being trapped in a muddy, rat-infested trench, only without the probability of a shell putting you out of your misery.

It's what ISIS would call 'Cruel and Unusual Punishment'.

If this whole flashback was Jun's dream, that would indicate that his dream was also in the third person, especially since there was no outside context to the whole thing. It would indicate that he, the dreamer, had awareness of Tomo's thoughts in the same way that we, the readers did. Certainly then, he would have seen an inkling of Tomo's romantic feeling for him. Could it be that he will realize the truth, and isn't simply a colossal faggot? Could it be that I'm setting myself up for even bigger dissapointment?

In all seriousness, though, this manga wouldn't be half bad if it wasn't a 4-koma. The whole flashback could have been over in a single chapter, and not dragged out for weeks. Then the author could have had tons of time to write all of this nothing into self contained volumes, which would be preferable to what we have which is essentially like chinese water torture.
