From their own timeline: Jun has learned she is a girl. Accepted the fact and kinda forgot about it, treating her like before despite the difference. Realized she IS A FUCKING GIRL and started to react accordingly, his behavior changing. Gotten a bit overprotective in certain gender-specific situations where nothing would have likely happened before. Something really must have tripped up Fumita during that last hiatus if he's rushing through material like this. Still, he must have plenty he's still sitting on if he's going through a culture festival arc.

Considering that the English volume releases of Tomo-chan are set for September this year, we'll also get an actual litmus test of how much interest there's left for this in the English world.
