Well that's because so far the story's been following the events and actual results of history. The only fictional elements are obviously how the battles were fought and the superhuman generals. Though I think most of the battle still follows the way those battles were historically recorded, like for example battle A was lost because the grand general was slain, battle B was won once the Qin army did this etc

I hate the "I'm going to be the best ever" stories with a passion but for some reason Kingdom doesn't annoy me at all maybe it's because of the historical background.

It's because instead of power creep, most powerful character in the story that MC aspires to be died from circumstances rather than being overpowered and the universe remained consistent after that, with many current big bads still contemplating if the war would had been different if Ouki was still alive.
