Was I the only person that watched it? Honestly, it was hard for me to keep up with it until recently. Finally got caught up with it and my god, where do I begin.
This is made by Haoliners. You kind of expect what you're getting into if you've checked their previous shows. They really only made one good show and that was probably a fluke. Most of their shows are either boring, dragged out, baiting for a second season that will never come, or are badly animated that it is sometimes hilarious.
Evil or Live starts out with the idea of reforming NEETs or internet addicts with harsh training but it quickly devolves into cellphone wars. People fighting over fucking cellphones. A big cellphone hot potato to dick around everyone involved for a bored guys amusement. Then you've got odd choices like the film grain movie widescreen resolution. It doesn't even contribute anything and it's used all the time. Then you've got the low sounding sfx or in most cases no sound when their should be.
It didn't get interesting, in a bad way, until these few episodes that everything is breaking apart animation and plot wise. Was able to start making fun of it like Bloodivores. This long drawn out set up was just to dick around the MC until at the end he turns to the edgy side. He probably planned it for whatever convoluted plan but we'll likely never see it since the season is almost half over with nothing much accomplished.
Then we've got this flashback by Shian that connects everything together as to why this prison school exist. Shian was a former cop that worked for Chales Bronson lookalike that died while he hid like a coward. His son is a internet addict that doesn't give a shit about his father and doesn't think of him as a hero like everyone else when he didn't help him or the family. That son dies immediately after that in the net cafe.
Shian brings up that their was a traitor in their ranks but the chief told him to keep it down since he was the only survivor. Shian quits right there, in front of the father and sons grave and investigates where to find the daughter. He finds the daughter (who turns out to be the principal of the prison school) in a devil corset whipping a guy tied to a bed. That guy is dying because he didn't take his medicine beforehand an is unable to get his pills while tied up. Shian tries to help him but the woman throws away the medicine bottle and he dies there. That is where episode 7 leaves off at.
As expected of Haoliner, it's a complete mess through and through. I'm hoping it will remaining funny bad since MC has turned into Cold Steel and is out for revenge but they could fuck even that up too. 5 more episodes to go. Also, a small thing to mention. Did anyone think that the fat pink shirted afro guy reminded them of a grown up Steven Universe? The only thing missing was the star on his chest. I'll keep watching Haoliners until they actually make their second good show, whenever year that will come out.
