I've been trying to watch KF for the "first time" recently, but I've gotten halfway though twice now before stopping and starting over. First time I got interrupted partway through and wanted to start over from the top, and second is I found the BD version and I don't know which is the better one to watch. From what I've seen the BD has made several improvements to the animation and stuff, but it loses part of the charm that the stiffer original had.

Someone at Kadokawa wanted to have full control of it and fired Yaoyorozu, the small studio that made season 1 the miracle it is. Kemono Friends, as a cross-media project, was always intended to be the new Kantai Collection.
