I'm the guy from the other threas who was catching up on everything after only having watched the first season of the original and after some serious internet and real life issues I'm finally caught up and I have a lot of opinions and feelings. I talked to other anons about the original in the other thread already so I'll post my shitty analysis of sunshine here.
Sunshine first season was like MGS2. Every time it looked like things were going to happen like it did with Muse there was a twist (like their first concert being a success and their qualifier being a disaster), and a lot of the fun I had was trying to figure out how far in an episode things would stay like the original before it derailed.
Other than that, it feels like the original love live was the story of the age of legends, with Muse and A-rise, while sunshine is the story of the age of men. Muse had their own set of problems, sure, but things worked so well for them almost all of the time. Of course they work hard but everything just fell into place for them. They also powered up extremely fast. Even their weakest members turned into top tier idols fairly fast. Meanwhile in sunshine they know about the legends, but while they try ro mimic them they keep having problems with reality and destiny that muse didn't have to deal with. They get screwed by coincidences, they run out of money, they're not as good with the dancing or writing and they couldn't power up fast enough, their unit isn't as cohesive, they have competition that's been in the game longer than them and are better than them, and even when they do everything the best they can (with Chika being a much more competent leader than Honoka, who must have had some fate manipulation powers besides her time travelling and weather control shit) they still fail and then get up to fight again. It's a beautiful story of the struggle of men trying to become the legends they could only dream of.

Yeah, Honk had Super Charisma, but the important part is when she learned how to use it to lead. That was the moment she stopped the rain. That was the moment she became a complete character who didn't think only of herself, but the direction of her friends, her school, and her community. That was the moment she decided to lead.
Chika has a super power as well. It's the Power of Understanding. She always gets it, no matter what her friends are going through, and it just seems so cheap to me. She's always just staring out at the sunset remarking on natural truths that spring to her in times of a friend's distress. It's the Mary Sue of powers, because she always just knows, no questions asked. It's phoned in. The only thing that stops her is not understanding why she can't shine even though she knows so much. It's frustrating for her. She's more of a philosopher than a leader.
Honk was a genius leader because she used her Charisma to affect reality to the extent that she wanted. She never backed down when confronted with an obstacle because she knew she could convince the problem away if she worked at it enough. Because of this power, people followed her, and she used it to sway the hearts of an entire fucking city, and she worked hard for it.
A leader leads. It's someone who goes first, who decides the course and brings others to follow. Honk is this to a T. Chika is still only thinking of herself. This might be due to the fact that she still only has herself. Like it says in pic two up there, Honk had her community to back her because of her genius leading. Chika only has herself and her few fellow idols and few students.
Looking at pic 1, this is another way the two are opposite of each other. Also, in Sunshine, the girls had the support of the community right away because it was so small. In the original, they had to work to make others believe in them. That's why the snow shoveling scene and Summer Day Song were so great.

I might add that considering it was kinda of Christmasy themed, it should have been a slower, more gentle song, and they got the feel perfectly in the intro part, but then everyone joined and it became just another flat, Aqours style hyper pop song with some added edgy rock style of SS, and turned out to be a huge disappointment.
Not to mention Ruby and Leah never getting another solo part, or duet with their sisters, or anything like that.
