I would watch the fuck out of a Yu-Gi-Oh series that had a legitimate education twist.
>MC is absolutely terrible at first but has some tiny sparks of genius here and there.
>Bombs the entrance exam but he's let in thanks to a surprise intervention from a past MC guest judge who cites his smart calls despite having bad mechanics and worse deck.
>Teachers are all running YuGiOh4RealMen-tier 'fuck you, try new things' decks and use them to teach the kids about a specific aspect of the game.
>MC is treated like the special ed student he is for a while, but slowly he starts to show promise, making a wider group of friends.
>Duels grow more intense as weeks pass by, each student learning more about YuGiOh, and MC starts to distinguish himself, developing his own unique flavor of deck that relies on thinking ahead and his intuitive calls (D/D/D? Sylvans? Clown Control?)
>Presents like a more normal school anime until the first boss (exams) is defeated, but the MC and co take it upon themselves to both attend classes and slip away into the night to [investigate something weird on campus/fight a bad guy threatening the school/run an illegal dueling ring], eventually culminating in a dangerous final boss of some kind.
>Gets people more interested in YuGiOh, thinking about different cards and combos to try, and gives them a pretty satisfying anime to boot.
It seems so easy, like it should have been right in front of their noses when they were planning the anime.
