Anon, don't you know how presistent mustard is? It was practically used as an area denial weapon in WWI. That trench could remain uninhabitable for days, even weeks. Even pieces of clothing or canned food from a recently-gassed trench can be potential hazards. Mustard gas potentially reacts with any exposed piece of skin, chemically burning it, so it's not like shovelling it into your mouths with your corndogs is a good idea. Eating in a recently-mustarded trench is a good way to make sure neither of you will enjoy eating anything for a long time to come.
Now if I were to go on trench warfare with Chaika, I'd go for a trench raid,and I'd do it the old-fashioned way: a box barrage around the area we intend to raid, followed by rapid storming with trench-appropriate weapons, taking whatever catches our eye, and enjoying it in the comfiness of our own trench.
