I liked this show when it was airing, but never found it to be anything fantastic. Watching this OVA made me realize how much I missed it, and how great the OP/EDs are. This episode was a really nice sendoff, if it should be the last.
Seeing a horny Kobayashi did things to me, anons.

I liked the girls a lot, but a shame that Kyoani had to shy away from fanservice and lolis, only to double down on the shota x Titty monster fanservice. Lucoa has a slamming body, but 95% of her porn is with Shouta. It's hot alright, but give me some variety.

This is one of the few shows I actually tried the dub on and it was actually even worse than ones I've seen in the past. The audio quality is all over the fucking place (sounds like it was recorded on a $10 mic at someone's home) and most of the voices don't fit the characters at all. Only decent part of the entire thing was Fafnir's voice and absolute worst part was Kanna's voice. If you can imagine a girl trying to put on a disgustingly cutesy little girl voice, that's about what she sounded like. As far as I'm concerned, the sjw lines were only the cherry on top of the pile of shit.

What is it suppose to be?
A Mandrake?
No.744712
>>744702
Mandragora is the family name for the real species of Mandrakes, known for having roots that sometimes bear a vague resemblance to a human figure. However what is key about 'Mandragora' is that the name has been consistently referenced in modern fiction for the past few decades as a direct result of how often mandrakes featured in the occult and occult practices.
You would have to quite seriously live in a little hut on an island in the middle of nowhere to have never seen the name Mandragora used as a reference to a magical human-shaped root, often with an element that it screams upon being pulled from the ground. Video games, anime and manga consistently reference mandragora in this way or on some variation of the 'magical flora' concept, and even some big western film&television make reference to it (Harry Potter adaptations off the top of my head).
Putting a TL Note like this in is pretty much the same as starting the episode of with:
'TL Note: 'Dragon' refers to ancient Greek lawmaker Draco, known for creating harsh and unforgiving laws'
It's utterly perplexing and incomprehensible to the vast majority of the target audience why a note would even be needed for something stemming primarily from western culture, and even moreso that it's so incredibly wrong.
Though, the bigger issue is that your Japanese needs a lot of work before you try to sub anything again

Not really. There was no reason for that. It's not like the show had a small note or dialogue that explained what this is. All he needed to do was not add a note and he wouldn't have made himself look like a retard.
No.744776

I mean, it can be explained where the translator pulled this particular, obscure definition of mandragora from. It's almost word for word to what the "translator" wrote. As for why, my best idea for working that out is that the subgroup outsourced the translation to some mentally challenged villager in some poor SEA country.

I can't read the kanji, but oishi means delicious, and chokoreeto is obviously chocolate. The 'ru' makes me think the kanji is a verb, so it's probably Xing delicious chocolates. Does the X mean making delicious chocolates? How is my assumption compared to this subber? I haven't taken a Japanese class in over 7 years, and didn't get very far at that.
No.745028

The kanji in the post you replied to means "production" and with the "ru" it means "to produce".
Congratulations, you are better than a fansubber that doesn't know what a mandragora is.

Did a little translating a while back, stuff on Danbooru and so on. It's surprisingly easy to get caught up in the idea that you have a duty to provide as much info as you can. I suspect the translator is merely new and a bit overenthusiastic, maybe he'll get better with some experience.
