Queen's Blade characters are better than expected, if only because they're based on long-established archetypes (the naive hero with a heart of gold who learns from both allies and enemies, the local who ends up forced to travel strange lands with a reliable partner, etc.). The various character stories all follow pretty standard high adventure arcs, or are really just gags, but they're done decently enough.
The second season and onwards got increasingly niche and obviously oriented towards introducing new characters instead of continuing the story, so the quality drops across the board. A reboot of the franchise called Queen's Blade Unlimited just began, maybe it'll be better organized.
