Cute girls doing awesome things that are also cute. Mikan is best onee-chan, lying to her imouto and then putting on an elaborate live toku battle to cover it up. Was actually moved by how imouto told Mikan to ganbare.
Early on the episode sets a goal and Mikan and An work together to achieve it. We get to see the whole process of them training and setting everything up for the performance. It doesn't dawdle too long on any one element so we actually get to the fight by the end of the episode. There's a complete plot there, but it ends with a hook for the larger story. Hopefully that story will go into detail of the behind-the-scenes stuff of these live toku shows, as I actually find that sort of stuff very interesting. Mikan will have to grow to become less of a sissy and I assume An is going to have to learn how to actually pull her punches. The characters are cute and charming and the comedy was actually funny for me, this has the potential to go places and I really hope it does.
Also, it helps that the animation of the action was well done, hope they can keep up the same level of quality for the rest of the show.

I hope to see more of it, the combination of a stagnating small town plus an unusual subject like toku and what happens behind-the-scenes sounds like an interesting idea.
Has anyone ever seen one of those live toku shows? Are they as silly and fun as they sound? I don't expect SRS BSNS shit, just fun fight and silly but effective special effects. Glad that children find them fun instead of staring like zombies on a tablet screen.

Agreed on the singer. Both Aoyama's were decent, but Chief definitely had the best voice, followed directly thereafter by Manager-san. Won't they all have to sing though, especially Red? If only one person is singing, particularly if it isn't the leader, then the others are just standing around with their thumbs up their asses in the meanwhile, yes? And being the only singer would single her out as more important than the other Fruits. Kids would start wondering why she isn't the leader.
Chief being the villain doesn't mean shit. Fuck convention. Imagine the surprise the audience would have if she suddenly cut into a pivotal moment, or Blue's singing, with a song of her own. I just want to hear more of her, honestly. Can't wait for the character song cds.

>Wheels confirmed the heroine we don't deserve.
I thought she was pretty shit, actually. Most of her "advice" was crap, or not appropriate in context.
For instance, her direction of Yellow, Pink, and Red wasn't correct. With the timeframe they have to practice, you can't just tell the actors to completely change up their acting or waste time trying to revise mannerisms and expect it all to go smoothly. It won't 'look right' to the audience come showtime, as their movements won't be fluid and natural at that point. Practice time is limited and better spent on genuine rehearsal.
Blue, Green, and Train got completely nonsense advice. Go sit under a waterfall? Wax nostalgia about Mexico? Pointless. Telling Train to act cutely shy won't really work in-story, as that'd require back and forth with someone else. In a wholesome story like Hina-Nectar, with entirely female cast, I severely doubt there's going to be sexual innuendo or other stuff flying about that would trigger an obviously cute reaction that the audience could intuitively grasp. What's left? Her failing to act sexy and blushing cutely about it? Never gonna show up in the show. It was just shit advice.
Most of her advice was great longterm, barring Green/Blue, but this just wasn't the time for it. This is way too important for them nail, especially with the incredibly precise timing required due to the fireworks, for such a sudden change to the performance like that. It's a directors job to juggle shit like that, and she failed. She's shit. Aoyama imouto a shit!

The problem is, the incident happened three years prior. Unless she were Stone Cold Steve Austin and got her legs incredibly fucked up by extreme damage, she'd be totally fine. In fact she does outrun Loco for the train at the start of the episode so Cap's merely bitching at this point. If they did use panties, I'd think Red has simple white panties or booty short-ish panties, Yellow would have something unusually sexy due to her budding buddy, Blue with shimapan, Green with boyish panties as well or side-tie panties, Pink with childish panties with Cap's face on them, Wheels with polka dots, Muramura with black panties, Train Autismo with anything that has trains and Cap with something lacey and elegant.

Nico Nico Ninja > Hina-Nectar
Jews new outfits are trash. The previous ones were more immediately striking, color-coordinated, and cuter.
Wouldn't this entire situation be grounds for a lawsuit of some sort? The Cheer Fruits sold 3000 tickets and had various merchandise purchased for the event, not to mention the other jobs such a thing would require, like security/event staff, possible concession stands, etc etc. You can't just move forward some nebulous future plans to demolish the building and cancel all that short notice. That's a shitload of lost money, across a multitude of industries. Someones gotta pay for that.

I assume the new outfits were supposed to be upgrades akin to later Precure's super forms which look quite bland in comparison to the original uniforms but I agree they look like shit. Just like their team and member naming schemes, how come the fucking tokufag red didn't call them on this? Speaking of, when are we getting some Red development?

Glad I wasn't the only one who thought that. I wish they'd just stop that.
But forget Red. She had adequate development in the beginning. Even beyond that, she's had plenty of screentime to showcase her individuality since then. If anyone needs attention, it's Pink. Her entire character is one-note as HELL, and what little she has doesn't even garner any attention besides a one-liner 'muh Gozen-sama" every here and there. Unfortunately, there's only 1 episode left. I highly doubt anyone besides Mizuki is going to get any sort of special attention from here on.

It was a pretty good show. Nice love letter and homage to toku shit. Needs more inadvertent and unadvertised lewd. That was the best part.
The cast was too large though. There wasn't enough screentime to go around to adequately develop and flesh out the bit players, like Pink and Green.

Kind of funny since the current Sentai season has TWELVE members. I understand what they were going for, but in that case the show would've needed at least one more cour to give everyone enough development but the studio wouldn't have been able to handle that.

I'd say Green was slightly less developed than Pink, but Pink was more one-note. Green cheered them up by showing the town's support and makes new merchandise even if it's for monetary reasons. Pink was fixated on Cap, and as much fun her episode was, she didn't interact with the other girls much. On the same note, Blue didn't interact much with the other girls, and Wheels stole her spotlight.
Still, it was a fun series, and I'd like to see another season, even if it's with another group of girls. Maybe a group of delinquent girls who are forced to do a toku show, and even if they love punching and kicking each other, they hate wearing those cute outfits. Maybe they become Banchou Rangers?
I'm buying the hell out of the Cheer Fruits if they ever get a Revoltech or something.

This. Except for a few hiccups in QUALITY, the series was consistently good, so rewatching I will not make me think UGH THIS EPISODE WAS SLOOW/SHIT/ETC.
I found it really adorable how Wheels wanted a new wheelchair for better movement and her sister came up with a choreography routine for her, that hug was adorable, and then funny now that she's a new villain. I'd love to see her wheelchair dance animated.
I'll keep my hopes up that they eventually get merchandise aside from the cheap stuff like clear files and that, some rubber keychains at the very least would be great.

There's honestly no reason why you can't make /m/ threads. I was told by a meido once that /m/ content is allowed, and althrough I was never visited that board much, I've always loved toku and mechs and would be happy to contribute.
Honestly, I believe anons are scared of crossing the 3D/2D barrier, but it says clearly that /jp/ content is allowed in the rules. Adding /m/ in there would probably be a good thing to petition the meidos to add. It's sad, really. Both /m/ and /jp/ were always an integral part of /a/ before moot split our board and now we need to say we sanction these things.
We've had idoru, Godzilla, and travelling to Japan threads, and I'd like to see more of these. Gaki no Tsukai threads would be nice, too.

I think it'd be best if we reintegrate /m/ into /a/ rather than pull /a/ into /m/ and fragment ourselves further. Gundam threads are already doing well here and we talk toku in Precure threads regularly.
I'd welcome a thread, personally, but there might some trigger-happy meido. What we need is an official sanction like /jp/ has, but honestly, I don't think we even need one if we have idoru threads and such. But no one's tried it before because halfchan /m/ never had an exodus. Our board was split and a piece of us was left behind. It's only natural that we should reunite here.
There's also always Precure threads.
