More or less only if you try it out yourself. I have to answer yes from personal experience but it is not my place to prove anything to mundanes because they will always find a way to generalize it into "muh pure coincidence" and hold to that explanation so as not to upset their worldview.
Ask pretty much anyone who does this type of stuff and if you're open enough for it and suspend your disbelief they will affirm that indeed it does work.
On a very real level you yourself are "just" a thoughtform created by your parents and other beings.
You can start with small stuff like a thoughtform that brings certain information into your view, or specific pictures that wouldn't be "normally" accessible necessarily under such circumstances. It's similar to sigil magic in that you can start with a statement of intent that you give a name and fuel with emotion of the desired outcome. These things often quickly take on a life of their own so be careful, as I've read of people who atleast in their subjective experience had their life fucked up and almost got killed by their thoughtforms.
Also, it depends on what you mean by evidence. The sheer amount of books written on the subject should be enough if you believe that everything has some purpose.

It definitely can, and to some extent should, be autonomous, but I think you're underestimating the reach of your own mind. Literally everything that you experience is in your mind. And if you hold to the idea of the collective sub-conscious then everything experienced by anyone connected to that same sub-conscious is also in your mind, even if not accessible by you yet ;)
