>be me, 11 (16 now)

>middle of the night

>feel a hand on my shoulder (it felt gentle, not like something bad)

>unable to see anyone/anything but heard someone whisper to me, all I understood was my name

>cry and call my mum into my room because I was 11 and it was scary as shit

>she tells me that it was just a dream, and that she used to have extremely realistic dreams aswell

I was absolutely convinced at the time that it was not a dream. I don't remember falling asleep or waking up at all.

Now I'm not so sure because I haven't had any paranormal experiences since that day.

Another thing to consider is that my mums brother had severe schizophrenia, to the point where he killed himself. My family is a long line of mental illnesses. I don't hear things unless I'm stoned or drunk, and I'm almost 100% sure I'm not schizo, but I don't have any other ideas as to how it happened.

Any similar experiences? Is it possible it was a dream like my mum said? If so, why don't I remember sleeping?

>tfw once heard my name being whispered to me in the dead of night

>tfw actually do think it was a dream being that I've had similarly real-feeling dreams when extremely tired

Only you can know whether it was a dream or not. In any case, I would strongly suggest that you stop smoking, because marijuana has been proven to increase a person's chance to develop mentall illness, and combined with the fact that you're already at risk (since it's mostly genetic), you could end up dooming yourself to a life of misery and despair.

Apparently it's not uncommon for people to experience auditory hallucinations as a result of sleep deprivation. Personally, I used to go 1-2 days without sleeping, sometimes more, and never heard anything.

That got dark quick haha

I got bad with weed last year, but I only smoke once every few weeks now, so I doubt it'll affect me (and at the time I was 11 so I obv didn't smoke).

As long as that's actually how often you smoke you should be fine. I know I like to tell people I only smoke every few weeks because that's where I want to be, but often times I've really been using more frequently than that.
