So in the middle of April there was a thread on /pol/ about how, if you were to have a near-death experience or "activate schizophrenia" you would basically become much more focused and possibly even get superhuman abilities. It was a really interesting thread. Does anyone have any information regarding this topic?

It's often said that people who had a near-death experience or were abducted by UFOs, develop psychic powers as a result. People can be really good at deceiving themselves when they want to believe something. Although things like telepathy and remote vision have been proven to exist, whether these skills can really be awakened by unusual events, I'm not sure.

It seems to be possible to awaken them when in a weakened state, as the posts in the original /pol/ thread suggests like in pic related

Your mind is the most important and fragile thing you have. Don't fuck with it because you want le epic superpowers.

I agree that most of the known methods are pretty self-destructive in nature, but that can't possibly mean there are no relatively safe methods out there. The goal is simply to trick your brain into going in a high-gear, higher state of consciousness. One anon in the original /pol/ thread even gave an example of doing just this safely in their own life (pic related). I think other ways to elevate your mind safely is worth looking into.

The first steps into magical practice tend to involve a period indistinguishable from an acute bout of mental illness as the mind tries to get used to its new surroundings and ascribing a new and unknown value set to things it long before became conditioned to reflexively reject.

However, some practitioners stop in that place and don't advance or push past it. It's very important to exhaust your impulse to take this period seriously, it needs to be pushed past and it must be integrated into a resumed functioning in the mundane world without losing yourself to either. Otherwise the risk is simply too high that practices will exacerbate neurosis.

So, no, that /pol/ thread was not quite right. Rather, it's characteristic of someone who is just starting and should cart and deepen their practice a bit.
