The problem isn't people's standards (the good ones anyway) It's the people (the bad ones) and the bad world we live in. That's the problem. It is good to want good, and it is good to hate that which is bad.

Let me clarify some more. There are many good and bad people in this world, but the bad apples spoil the bunch for the rest of us. I'm not talking about race or anything. I'm just saying that things could be a whole lot better if everyone wasn't so damn crazy and selfish, but you also simultaneously can't blame people for trying to watch out for themselves because everyone else is already selfish and evil because of everyone else around them already being selfish and evil.

You can't plant a good seed in bad soil and expect a good tree to grow, and the good ones that come out good despite the bad soil are miracles. The world is designed this way, to be a nightmare.

Further clarification. It's good to want good things and it's good to want to avoid bad things. If your a liberal your standards are probably twisted so this probably doesn't count for you, but usually good people that have high standards even though the world is a nightmare doesn't mean that they're crazy or are doing something wrong. It's good and healthy to have good standards. Having good standards in a nightmare world doesn't make the standards unrealistic, It makes the nightmare world unrealistic.

Having good standards in a nightmare world doesn't make the standards unrealistic, It is evidence of an unrealistic nightmare world because if the world was not a nightmare, those "relatively" high standards wouldn't be considered high standards, they would be considered 100% realistic and natural.
