Last year I made a thread on another board about how shitty my computer was, and anon said that if I contacted him on Steam he would send me a GTX 950. He actually fucking did, and I also received a GTX 650 TI and some i5 CPU I haven't messed with (both of which he didn't even mention in our messages). I sent him no money, I didn't even have to pay shipping. He just sent me computer components he could have easily sold FOR FREE, and I don't even know him. After I received the package I sent him a message thanking him, and it never got a reply. I didn't read too deeply into this at the time because I was happy to have a capable PC, but now I am starting to wonder what his motive for doing that was. They're not the most high end stuff in the world, but like I said, he could have easily sold them. Instead he sent them to someone he didn't even know and had never talked to.
Why? Could the GPU be bugged? I am taking off the fan soon to apply new thermal paste, so when it's disassembled I am going to thoroughly investigate it. I am honestly pretty unsettled.

Imo there's three options.
1-spooks 2-private spooks 3-genuinely nice dude
That said, I have friends who've gifted each other stuff like that because they were too lazy to sell it. Maybe this dude doesn't have any rl friends and just wanted good karma. In any case be happy about it. Even on the offchance that you got got, you got a new pc out of it.

Maybe because he does not need the money and genuinely wanted to help someone. Charity can provide a very rewarding feeling, the sensation of making a diference to another dude. Just be thankful for what you have.

Seems like he was just a nice person, feel glad you got something for free.

This was my first guess. Maybe he had no family or friends to give his stuff to, so he just gave away his stuff to random strangers. It's not uncommon for computer geeks to hang on to old hardware when they upgrade to something better, so he might just have had the GPU lying around and didn't want to go through the hassle of trying to sell it.
Unlikely it's bugged. There's a lot easier ways to bug someone's PC, and there's no way you're important enough for someone to go through the trouble in such a pricey fashion in the first place.
