What is it? What's its goals? Do we really know anything about it?

To be honest, I have no idea. Flying humanoids in general are some of the most mysterious creatures I've read about. There seems to be no natural, rational explanation for them. From an evolutionary and biological standpoint, they shouldn't exist. Which leaves us with paranormal theories, but as you probably know, once we leave the safe harbour of orthodox science, we're flying in the dark. The truth is, we don't really know anything for sure about most of the subjects we talk about on /x/. There's only speculation and imagination because there is no way to verify a hypothesis.

Take Mothman for example. Some people think he's an alien, or a demon, or the result of a secret genetic experiment, or a physical manifestation of some almighty cosmic trickster. We lack even a proper philosophical, scientific or spiritual framework to explain these strange phenomena.

So we know nothing. That sucks we really need to look into this more.

I agree, we need to start taking a more proactive approach, but it's difficult to study something like this. An intelligent entity that can predict the future and alter his shape at will. It's hard enough to study animals already known to science!

Where was the most recent sighting that might be a good place to start.

 No.42990

I don't know if this is even a physical being. According to the stories, it seems to be a spiritual messenger that knows the future.

Our definition of 'spirit' might be inadequate to describe beings like Mothman.

A year or two ago, a lot of reported sightings came out of the Chicago area. I have not heard of any since then. Jim Harold did a couple of episodes about those Chi-town sightings in his members-only netcast show, The Cryptid Report.
