Anyone else sometimes just hear beeping noises?

I've been getting them every day for a couple weeks now, sounding a bit like mores code. Volume and frequency is inconsistent at best, it just has that beeping sound mores code is associated with. Granted it sounds a bit hollow-er I guess, like tapping a tube of plastic or something.

Normally not too easy weirded out, but this has been going on long enough for it to start bugging me.

Pic unrelated.

1. You're suffering from some weird form of tinnitus.

2. Some machine is making the beeping noises.

3. Auditory hallucinations.

Does this only happen when you're at home? Does the sound change depending on what room you're in? Do you usually listen to loud music?

I think it may just be tinnitus, that didn't come up when I tried looking into this myself.

It happens anywhere, just heard it while in a walmart bathroom sounding the same as always. Granted whenever I'm home on my own it seems louder, probably because theres no other noise.

I don't listen to anything loud, keep my volumes a minimum. Like right now I'm listening to warhammer lore videos with volumes at as low as I can get it but I keep hearing it, granted its sounding a bit more whistle-y.

I'm guessing it's just tinnitus, feel pretty stupid making it here now. I guess make this a spooky sounds thread?

The reason I asked about loud music is that tinnitus is often a sign of hearing loss, and in young people it's usually due to bad hearing habits. People who work jobs where they're constantly exposed to loud noises also frequently suffer from tinnitus (for example, construction workers). I would suggest that you get your hearing checked just to be on the safe side. Also, are you taking psycho-active medication (for depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, etc)? That can sometimes cause hallucinations.

If you find the tinnitus annoying and you need something to mask it, look up 'white noise' on Youtube. It's great for covering tinnitus and various ambient noises, I use it all the time to mask barking dogs, airplanes, loud neighbours, etc. There are sites that let you download 1 hour of white/brown/pink noise as a mp3.

This is probably my favourite 'spooky sound'.

http://www.thefullwiki.org/Quacker_(sound)

Soviet submarines during the Cold War era started encountering strange sounds when they passed through certain zones in the northern seas. They seemed to be coming from unidentified objects swimming near and around the submarines. The objects appeared to show signs of intelligence and moved at the speed of 200 km/h, about twice as fast as the fastest fish known to science. At the time of the encounters, there was no machine that could reach that speed underwater. The 'quackers' (as the Russians called them) always seemed to be patrolling a particular zone, for unknown reasons.

Any attempt to investigate them was unsuccessful. After a period when the quackers had started spreading to other areas of the sea, the phenomenon simply faded away in the 80s (or so we're told). Were they some kind of top-secret project? A species of marine creatures that still remains to be discovered? Or perhaps, non-human vehicles involved in some mysterious operation?

It's worth noting that 'flying saucers' have often been reported as coming in or out of the water (both the sea, lakes and even rivers). The strong connection between water and UFOs has prompted some researchers, like Ivan Sanderson, to speculate that extraterrestrials might actually be native to this planet, a race that evolved in our oceans long before the first man walked the earth. The bible mentions 'those who live underground and underwater'.

I'd also like to add that the 'quacker' phenomenon took place in the northern emisphere, close to the north pole. As someone who has an interest in the hollow earth theory, I can't help but wonder if the quackers were visitors from the legendary city of Agartha, home to the 'king of the world'. According to legend (and some alleged eyewitness reports), the north and south poles are the main entrances to the inner earth.
