Anyone else kind of conflicted when you listen to old episodes of Coast to Coast? I'm going throught the late 90's now and it annoys me how every other guest he has on is some doom saying "prophet" who says the world is going to blow up/get invaded by aliens/go through some vague change/etc.

It amazes me how many of these ass holes there were back then especially when none of their "prophesies" were the same.

That said, sometimes it is sad when some people are wrong, like richard hoagland. That guy is great.

Wait til you get to the mid 00's. Every other guest was on talking about angel sightings. Shit gets boring quick.

Don't go through them all it's soul crushing. Just listen to the ones on recommended lists. I have a deep love for coast to coast. I've always had this fantasy of driving through the desert in Arizona/new Mexico at night listening to coast to coast. Be spooky comfy

Don't get upset. Perpetual impending apocalypticism is one of the founding principles of the protestant reformation, since the turkocratia was in full force at that time and many many many many many Christian lands were suddenly under Islamic conquest. Protestants have been awaiting the end of the world forever, don't be discouraged.

Art Bell's Coast to Coast was best experienced live. It was a mental ride. It was cutting edge. It loses all its topical relevance in replays. Moreover the feeling of everyone experiencing it together as the man broadcast from his doublewide mobile home bedroom from the desert next to Area 51, out to the whole world, had a mystique and magic that is not possible to re-experience. That's not to say there aren't a lot of good shows worth listening to still in the archive but nothing compares to listening to Art live. Also those shows were in a different time before the internet had become normal for everyone.

Listening to coast to coast is pretty fun and interesting, until you start seriously analyzing what the guest is saying and you realize they are full of shit. Guests/callers are one of three categories:

1. Genuinely crazy

2. Make-believe wizards who want to feel special

3. Con artists trying to sell tinfoil hats to category 1

As much as I want to believe in the paranormal, nothing has ever been discovered or invented from that program. It's all been claims impossible to prove or disprove. Pisses me off. Yes I know it's entertainment but it doesn't even offer the pretense of being the schizophrenic entertainment hour (s).
