The story goes that there are some weird ruins down there.
From what I remember, the ruins are filled with death traps. Nobody's really sure if they're empty or not, but reports say that people constantly hear weird shit moving around. When a satellite takes pictures for Google Earth, it needs to pass directly over roughly every square foot that it is going to photograph. They have to go through a lot of trouble to get so many pictures, otherwise they'd be updated much more often. As the world is 70% ocean, they aren't going to bother taking detailed pictures of literally every square foot of it because it isn't useful and nobody of any significance to Google lives there. Their primary goal is to make money, and they can't turn a profit on Antarctica because it's really fucking big and there isn't enough demand for it. You're going to have to go there yourself somehow if you want to figure out for sure if there's really anything important.
