Dude, check missionaries stories in the south of Asia and Africa, "magic", "witchcraft", "candomble" and all those things are real, they are basically summoning something to molest people and they cant control them, there is a reason why every pre christian culture killed (and is killing) witches with passion.

A long time ago I experienced something similar to these shadow people which at the time I attributed to night terrors. Basically, this shadowy being would appear and my room and stare at me seemingly without any purpose. That is, until a few days ago.

Soon after these happenings I developed an interest in caves and specifically something called "Urba" or something similar. I imagined it being a planet or city far away from where I lived that'd been ravaged by some unknown catastrophy and its secrets lost.

That is, until a few days ago when I came across stories of the city of Ubar in the Empty Quarter of Saudi Arabia. That pretty much immediately reminded me of that thing.

I was driving home after another boring night at work, nothing unusual, nothing new. About 7:30 AM. As I take the turn at the crossroads heading to my house (It's literally not even a mile at this point) I see, for about a fraction of a second, a shadow figure in my driver-side mirror, standing just at the side of the road. A quick "What the fuck?", I stop the car, and back up, following the turn I had just made. As one would expect, the figure was no longer there.

That's about all I've had with shadow people.

This happened to me once. I was agnostic. Sleep paralysis happened. I felt a presence and then it started tugging at my feet and felt like is was crawling up me.

I couldn't talk but I was trying as hard as I can to cry out for Jesus Christ to help me.

I was still unable to move, but then was finally able to speak out the name of Jesus Christ and the entire encounter ended.

That experience sticks out in my mind and made me re-evaluate myself. I spent hours after that praying and crying to be saved.

Never had an experience like that since. The power of Jesus Christ is truly great. It gives a sense of confidence and security.

If I ever am in an experience where I feel something spiritually uncomfortable then I call out to Jesus.

Even did this in one of those Charismatic churches with tongues. I was invited to one of those and the whole thing set off a lot of alarms. I was praying to myself quietly for God to protect me from any heresy that was happening. Then one of the pastors I guess (this was many years ago), whispered in my ear that I have am special and God has a special plan for me. It got weird.

I've encountered stuff related to this before, usually in periods of incredible mental duress. For two semesters I got less than 4 hours of sleep a night and very little time to myself to relax. They always come as part of sleep paralysis. One night I had a visit by a shadow person. He was sitting at my computer, facing me. He was tall, thin, and entirely black. No aura, very well defined edges, and I could tell it was looking at me. I stared at it until my limbs unlocked, where-after I lunged out of my bed across the room to attack it. Of course, nothing happened, because it only existed in the bridge of sleep paralysis.

Part of the solution came from my father, who had my mother make me a dream catcher from raw materials. Allegedly, real dream catchers only work if a woman makes them. Anyways, it lessened the number of entities that showed up but not the sleep paralysis. After I graduated I had time to sleep, so it hasn't happened since then. Christ or dream catcher, the solution is usually to just believe they won't show up.

So I'd wager the shadow people of haunted houses are usually just people with poor resolve being spooked when they go to sleep manifesting the shadow people themselves to fuck with themselves as a mechanism to get them to stop sleeping in the spooky place.
