/vr/ - Retro Games

I remember getting this on my 133mhz, 16 mb ram, 512 mb HDD PC.

I bought it from a story, the guy sold cds with pirated games for a dollar, somehow no one gave a fuck about piracy on a legal story.

It ran in low settings and had no sound but I played it so many times, and it just just incredible to move around in an entire city, I never saw anything like that before. I never got to san andreas/vice city in the game though because I was too young and stupid to complete the missions.

I'm not a real big fan of the 2D GTAs that I've played (the first and the second). They're alright but the first one gets really annoying at times, the mission requirements are damn strict. Navigating is also a pain in the ass sometimes though I can get around Liberty City without too much trouble now. Usually I end up getting a decent multiplier then selling cars at cranes until I have enough points to move on (though I at least try to do all of the phone missions). I also use the 99 lives cheat which makes me feel like a bad person because I normally don't cheat at all.

GTA2 is quite a bit more fun. I don't have any major complaints about Downtown. The Residential District was mostly fun too but some of the red phone missions piss me the fuck off. That goddamn one where you have to to to that island penitentiary… Some fucker kept smacking me down, took me forever to do that one.

The Industrial District is just a pain in the ass. Can't go anywhere fast or you'll smash into a cop car and getting around is annoying.

Still, I'm not saying that they're objectively bad games, I just don't personally like them a lot. GTA2 has some interesting missions though, like the one where you drive a firetruck equipped with a flamethrower, or the one where you make hotdogs out of people.
