I'll never understand why people nuke their work, seems a waste. Deleting it all rather than just simply saying goodbye leaving it behind.

They'd rather reduce the likely hood of people tracing it back to them.
of course a bunch of people have saved their work already, but taking down the original is a good method to reduce it being found easily by others.
