I don't actually know if Leshana admins anything, It says on the site she's just there as tech assistance and keeps the general site going rather than moderating it.

Leshana (unlike Eka) got themselves a profile, they have a character and you can see and recognize them and even meet them, I've talked a little with them In art streams since we both share some interests and you feel them on a more human level unlike Eka who pretty much just shows their face if there is trouble, otherwise you can't see or meet them.

Eka's has really fallen from what I can guess. I joined it like 4 years ago but apparently the site used to have quite big names, Sprout used to be on there if you browse far back on some tags, Sirorca used to be there, Liz_art stuck around longer than some but eventually too left.

Now there's not alot of big artists using it, there's people like Asaneman but they are the kind who uploads on every site they can like inkbunny, E621, furrynetwork, FA, heck even here. So eka's isn't something they've got an attatchment to they just have it as another place to share their art via.

The main site is pretty dead in the water, mostly they just cobble the site back together when it flaws to pieces. Pointing out any flaws or improvements nets you a "Well take it under consideration" or "This has been suggested already and when we get done with our current projects will be considered," followed by a locked thread. Some of those suggestions being more than 8 years old since the request, namely improvements to blacklisting tags.

Well it is slowly growing into just being a hang-out for patreon-only content people and deviantArt tier shit. So eventually the site will just lose all purpose and die out.

This isn't wholly true or false.

Leshana's source code is messy as all hell and she's admitted to several people that she architected many recent aspects badly (or, worse, not at all) when laying them out.

The implication is that Leshana - like the goddamn copyright in almost every file and every footer from client-side sources and exposure you can reach says - is one of the chief programmers.

Hell forbid these people have to make money and be faced with the choices to monetize or keep their day jobs.

Depends on how you define "big", Karbo, Bigbig, Tsavo, Boogie (as Nope), Shyguy9, and a boatload of other decent artists still have a presence on, or only post their vore works to Eka's. If you're talking about furries, a lot of good artists just don't bother with EP because Furaffinity and Tumblr gets them all the exposure they want. Pateron whoring doesn't bug me (if people want to throw money at an artist, it's their dime, not mine) but I understand why some people might be annoyed by it.

I've got a love-hate relationship with Eka's. On one hand it still has a decade worth of vore content on it (shitty though a lot of it might be), and there are constantly new artists cropping up every month. It's the only site where you can consistently search for type of vore, type of pred, and so on. It still generally has a better level of quality than DeviantART's vore artists…

But on the other hand, there's just so much wrong with Eka's… the site looks like a relic from the mid-2000s… there are a mountain of site breaking bugs and user unfriendly "eccentricities" that could and should be fixed:

- The tagging system is garbage, you can upload without any tags, and it doesn't force a single tag on a concept like an imagebooru, so you can have "female pred" "female predator" "woman pred" "girl pred" all exist at the same time, ambiguous/redundant tags like "vore belly" or "vore comic" (is anyone searching for these tags?), trying to merge tags is time consuming and relies on you being lucky enough to find multiple people who don't just reject tag deletions outright.

- Blacklist is atrocious, doesn't apply on the front page or watch page, can't be applied to users, and just throws a half assed overlay over thumbnails

- You can't distinguish art and stories in search, it would be as easy as setting up a code to apply an overlay to the thumbnail if the submission is a document

- You can't use NOT/OR/AND operators in search AFAIK

- The tag search is redundant, since the "primary" search lets you use tags, description/title text, user, date range, and type of submission, why waste server space on an inferior search engine?

- Subforums that haven't been used in months still stay Duamtemef died years ago, and Karbo's forum hasn't had a post in almost a year

- The watch page is badly designed, there's no reason why deleted items aren't just automatically removed, nor why you need to click "show more" to view all new submissions

- If you favorite an item, add it to a folder, and the uploader later deletes that item, it breaks the folder, and you can't delete it. There's no code set to handle this, the item itself disappears, but it doesn't remove the item from the coding for the folder, either the coding should be altered to delete the item "under the hood" and not just on the user end, or replace it with an "item deleted" thumbnail like Furaffinity uses.

Now, this isn't Leshana's day job, I don't expect a professional site, but it's so ramshackle and unstable, you'd expect at least some fixes on these issues… but the site's been running on the same code since 2011, if Leshana or Eka is unwilling or incapable of fixing the problems themselves, maybe they could put a call out to the userbase and crowd source solutions?

Well Its not only Eka's that suffer from that TASE Is still on Furaffinity even though lots of people have requested him banned. Even though Furaffinity has a larger group of moderators and admins they still don't have any 'police' so to say, who makes sure there aren't any people scamming others or being creepy towards other users.

I haven't experienced any 'hostility' from Eka's other than from Eka herself that one time with JustinRPG, if i get roleplay requests and such I just tell them I had it written loud and clear on my profile that I don't roleplay and they can't really counter that so they all just run off. I've never encountered any of these hostile people who threaten you or try to persuade you into changing a decission or stop liking something you like as some other people seem to have, I just get the normal bunch of pests.

Agreed with all these points. I've always liked Eka's gallery, even prefered over most other gallery-like sites for the reasons I'm gonna soon tell, but what you posted are (while not killing my experience) the negatives I've come across as well. I mean maybe two or three of them I was aware of and was bothered by, but thanks for exposing the rest, wasn't completely aware of it all.

So basically what I like about the gallery is very simple, it's mostly the folder structure that lets you go back and forth between entries. dA has that, but for some obscure reason it 'forgets' that you're viewing a sequence of entries if you do one of a few "breaking" operations. You know, sometimes I just want to see all of a given folder/type of content, and I just don't want to go open every entry in a new tab or go forth and back constantly. Then there are the boorus, really love how simple they are to view TONS of pictures, but I wish the "preview/next" buttons would actually work. It's been a while I've used it, and I haven't done it often because it would constantly fail on me, but the last times I did it was on Giantessbooru, and basically all the "preview/next" does is go back and forth in the MAIN list of uploads. Regardless of if you have any filters on. That wouldn't be so bad if 9 out of 10 times it didn't give me a "pic doesnt exist" error because not only does it go back and forth in the main list, but it does so by entry number apparently. The problem here being that they constantly remove entries because they either are duplicates or aren't accepted or whatever. Which ends up with the annoying result that it rarely works for more than 3 pictures in a row, making the feature useless.

So.. that's one thing I like about Eka's galleries. I also like the "Latest updates" tab on user pages. I use it often, proves itself useful for me quite often. That said, the site is in dire need of an upgrade, or at least a fix. I don't mind the minimalist look of it, it's also quite lightweight because of that. If there's one quick thing I would change regarding the looks, it's the font of the general site. That serif font makes the site look older than it could look.

I've always felt Eka's was like pretty tame in matters of toxic people. I've always only ever been on the gallery, not a forum guy much. So I guess that helps (more vocal people seem to dwell more in forums). I've seen toxic people in gallery comments (although rarely), like that one dragon supremacist guy, but Eka intervened and all was well. I mean events like that I agree with Eka's adminning (toxic people have no place in communities), but I wasn't aware of all of this that's been discussed previously. That's sad. I liked the site because it had little amounts of toxicity but I had no idea it went a bit too far in the other way. Removing angry people is fine, but censoring tame complaints is bad :(

That said I've been an artist on there for 4 years now and so far haven't dealt with toxicity very much. Especially given my "popularity" (2M views-ish). Only a few very insisting users or some a tad uncourteous, but nothing really offensive came my way… yet.

But OT, I've never heard of JustinRPG before a few months ago. And it wasn't on a fetish site, not even on dA. It was on YouTube, on a SiivaGunner rip, using one of Justin's songs as the joke. The only conclusion I can draw is that she has a bit of a loose screw and that her reasons are probably something like she saw a community void in an obscure yet popular fetish and decided that by creating a space she'd have power over a large amount of people and that's enough of a game for her. Apparently the site was the first sites created where vore artwork could be uploaded, it was made for the artist Strega to have some place to publish his artwork as all other sites wouldn't allow it. This was before FA and any unified site for all popular furry fandom fetishes, so it eventually became the hub for vorephiles.

before that, vore artists had no place to upload and share art as well as hang out. So your story is not wrong. But Eka's lost that title and haven't done anything to stay relevant. 1. Where do you host that?

There's a lot of shitting on Eka's for what's effectively only 2 lowlives that know they are basically protected by free speech in 2 different

places and all this shitting is all coming from what looks like almost none of you actually knowing how the mods (including Eka)

operate.

Eka mostly judges things on popular vote and emergence of situation alerts. This is the reason why bots get flagged so fast and are

taken care of so quick, because everybody flags that shit instantly on the front page because everybody universally agrees on that shit

needing to go. When it comes to the rest, the site's user's are just too lazy to formulate an effective response that rivals the sort of thing

that the spambots get. Bots get decked instantly while users don't give the time of day like I'm about to do in the rest of this post below

just because it's easier to whine.

TASE is a legit piece of shit that I can't stand, but he's not breaking any laws. People got wise to his bullshit and the most they can do

is block/ignore/report him. Until recently, artists were too proud to send a dm to eka about his practices, but now that he's so

well-known for his shittyness, a couple dm's from the artists would send him packing from the site with a permaban.

Justinrpg is (so far as I know for the reasons I bother with the site) practically invisible either because I have him blocked or I'm not going

out of my way to find him or his posts. The amount of people complaining about this insignificant, underdeveloped pea-brain of a person

by the looks of things is unreal, because I simply figured this many people would be doing something much smarter than whining about

him on this board like a bigger baby than he.

Eka as an admin is on a tightrope as Eka's an admin that's ESL and despite Eka having a great grasp on english, there's a definite grey

area of context that goes completely over their head as far as 'maturity conduct' is concerned, a grey area that leaves Justinrpg immune

to enforceable moderation.

I'm not one who kisses up to authority and I've seen bullshit like gamefaqs, neogaf, extra creditz, etc… I'll give Eka's no more or less fair

shake than any other place and at the end of the day, the moderation method enforced on the portal always boils down to what is a

"violation on general principal" as opposed to rejecting free speech.

General principal as far as Eka's mod staff sees it:

No real life imagery of cp.

No real life depictions of extraordinary violence/death. (anything that's been deemed safe to be televised by news documentary or wildlife

channels are fair game.)

No public flame wars and no public "actual" arguments bearing open hostility that doesn't support the topic or debate in any meaningful way.

It's basically all /r9k/ with most content being vore discussion.

Eka might not personally see through thinly-veiled attention-whoring, but there is s little preaching from the admins that they've made it

clear that it's not their job to do so unless it becomes a problem that the users collectively begin flagging or imitating. There's so many

boards and active chat users that it's really impossible for one person to try minding every little issue at once unless the problem is

becoming too big for them to ignore.

I've tested, seen, been around and prodded enough to know the limits. While Eka is generally strict on shit that simply won't fly such as

legit real-life CP and intentionally malicious/repetitious/obnoxious spam from active users who have real human identity, there's

absolutely zero whip-cracking on Justinrpg because Eka doesn't see the person as being vindictive to others and if people genuinely

think the person is unfit for posting, they'll either begin ignoring him or otherwise just start lobbing complaints.

As far as TASE is concerned, that fuckwit is well-known-enough for digging his own grave. Eka doesn't need to do a damn thing since

artists are already rapidly becoming sick of him.

I may not be an artist in my own right, but TASE's meddlings have struck close enough to me personally that I wouldn't hesitate to blind

him in both eyes instantly if I ever met him in person as it's the closest I can get to bringing his bullshit to an absolute end without

actually ending his life.

All that said, just being realistically mature and smart about navigating Eka's, let alone any site makes them manageable. I use 4/8chan

without shitting on /pol/ or /b/ because I don't waste my time on those boards. All by the same token, I don't give 2 shits about youtube

comments sections or anita sarkeesian and other likeminded sjw con artistry that's been running rampant. By this measure, you

basically ignore TASE and Justinrpg and use the site tools like you're asked to and maybe you might see improvement in the site.

As crazy as it sounds, I've heard over the last 5 years from different mods across different sites including Eka's that they are noticing

more forum and chat users doing stupid things like trying to take the law into their own hands and play enforcer in public for e-peen

instead of contacting the moderation staff or using the board/chat tools like they are supposed to, which is the prime reason why people

are always bloating boards and chats with garbage.

In a world where people get banned for wrongthink, It's funny that so many people still manage to bitch and whine about a low-grade

When I do mine I'm going to ask that people pitch a character along with their bid, and I will draw whatever I want among the bids, rather than just going by who has the deepest pockets. It can be kind of semantically tricky with all the weird post vore stuff people have come up with. I think the consciousness being merged or absorbed should count as death, while a sentient fat scenario where the conscious stays separate (but trapped in the pred's body) is not. Becoming a ghost is also fatal (because dead people become ghosts) but if reformation is a possibility then that could be overlooked.

I've never understood why there's any type of arguing about nonfatal fatal and endo vore. It's a complete fucking fantasy, who cares. The arguments themselves are idiotic. People obsessed with nonfatal/endo cry about anything involving digestion and ask for alt pieces. People obsessed with digestion don't even understand how the digestive system works and claim that it's the only realistic form of vore and that if you were eaten that's the way it'd be.
