The Longing is the most unique game I have played in a while. The premise is that a king has gone into hibernation and you have to wake him up in 400 days. It is basically the idling game style taken to an insane degree where you could literally download this game, set a reminder in 400 days, load up the game and beat it. The game elements themselves come in the ways you waste time during those 400 days. The most obvious way is walking. Your character walks incredibly slow. I will let you know more when I have played more, but I wanted to make a gay blog post and let you all know that this game exists.

At its essence it's a resource gathering game. You walk around for seemingly ceaseless periods of time through labyrinthine staircases and occasionally stumble upon basic materials that you can use for mundane tasks like building a fire in your starter home. I am still not sure whether I enjoy this game or not.

I've been looking forward to this game. I think what I like about the idea is that it isn't trying to hide that things will take a long time like mobileshit but that's the point of the game. The loneliness. The boredom. I think the ridiculously slow pace of the game is a design choice to tell a message not to get you to spend money.
