Yeah, actually the only time I get new games is when I just upgraded my computer and want to test what it can do in terms of performance in graphics. But it never takes too long until I revert to retro games.

And, you're immediate reaction ISN'T to use good games that have a benchmark setting, such as Crysis or Lost Planet?

The og xbox is apparently a severe pain in the anus due to its batshit design, lack of documentation, and general microcock shittery. Emulators are being worked on, but progress is slooooow. If it takes too long I'll just say fuck it and buy one then hack it to run ISOs off of internal storage.

I've been on a retro kick lately. I've been playing
>Doom (GZDoom)
>Tomb Raider 2
>FFVII
And it blows me away, especially the first two, how amazing the level design was with the primitive tools they had. It's as if now that devs have access to make anything they want, all they can do is make linear corridors that are the same as in every other game.
Even FFVII has a shit-ton of variety in it. I'd forgotten all the little mini-games and challenges and puzzles there are. Modern JRPGs have jackshit compared to this ancient game that is, frankly, a clumsy-as-fuck first-attempt at 3D, with controls that are sometimes completely random (pressing right moves you down on this particular screen!) and completely wonky hit-detection for things like switches or climbing on ladders.
But it's still way more fun and varied than this new shit.
Go back and play some old classics anon. Find your old passions, and then go sideways through genres and developer catalogues to find good "new" shit.

We all know why most modern AAA games are shit. This is nothing new. You would be better off asking what are some niche games that are worth playing. Something like Bug Fables which is the Paper Mario sequel everyone wanted. There are plenty of good fighting games that don't ask for you to pay for everything or that you can pirate and get everything while still being able to play online. Shmups is a genre that hasn't dropped in quality over the last decade and there's still plenty of other games I seriously doubt you've even tried.

Popular and indie clique shit maybe
Plenty of great smaller mid sized releases that I'm enjoying and hope to enjoy before I go full retro when all of them die for streaming/mobile after the next recession.
Digital might have ownership issues, but piracy and the fact that anyone can publish their own game had made available some great games.

And even then the concept of digital ownership being completely temperamental and potentially not existing is only off a law that technically cannot be legally enforced
Like how it's both simultaneously legal and illegal to crack/rip your own software, and to that extent mod your own consoles (hint, even though some lawyers claim the DMCA does give legitimacy to a EULA, legally there isn't any real basis for the enforcement of, and as such is mostly handled as a civil issue. than a trade violation).
And that's even getting beyond the conversation to which that a copyright even grants even a 100th of what lawyers claim that it legitimately covers, or even the philosophical nature that a copyright should be publically terminable in the event that the producer abandons it. Or even the retarded concept that a copyright should be transferable, which is literally counter to the point of a copyright

OP stop being a gigafaggot sucking niggerdicks. You should know by now that modern games are by far a huge trap after the PS360 and very, very few are worth your time and most impotantly your money. To elaborate, here's the few in this decade that are worth it :
>Nioh
>Neir AutomataPC edition sucks donkey dicks
>Latest Zeldo
>Latest Mario
>The Fist of the North Star from the Yakaza guys
>Astral Chain
>Dragon Quest Heroes 1 on the PS4or PC
>Utawarerumono ZanUnless it released on PC as well and forgot
>Yoru no nai Kuni 2I found it worth it
<INB4 Some ports of some PS3 and WiiU games to now play at better framerates and releasing outside of Nippon
Wow, what an amazing collection. It's as if beyond some indie darlings, the occasional good doujin game and the PC games you can obtain no matter fucking what without a hitch, this generation is an absolute shit. And that over what? 8+ years of a downpour of fucking games. And even on PC you have the Denuvo shit you have to take care of which is fucking annoying and fucks your games.

I think somebody is working on a fork of qemu for xbox.
The low level aspects of the nvidia chip have been somewhat known since the openxdk author started reversing it back in like 2007.
None of the HLE options are viable unless somebody gets access to every release of the xdk.
Even if an MS employee accidentally leaks the 360/xbone source code nobody will dare touch it; black box reversing like the WINE project is the only way to prevent C&D.
The OG xbox emulator is probably the most impressive software ever released by MS, it probably cost them more than they ever made but the trends toward RISC ISAs at the time made it a worthy investment.
You can easily find an xbox/360 for around $20-$50 then hack it.

Ever since online integration took off in a big way publishers have been looking to perfect the "games as a service" model. Which is to say they're no longer just looking to create a product that they sell once, they're looking to hook you into a marketplace, so you keep coughing up payments.
Of course there will always be good games out there that don't do these things, but it's very easy to get demoralised by it all when the very thing you understood to be a video game is now becoming a rarity in the games industry.

License agreements presented after the transactional agreement are automatically invalid as the presentation of would breach the agreement they made selling you the software This means you are under no obligation to continue any sort of agreement with them.
Technically speaking, the very concept of a EULA is unenforcible as it is invalid under copyright, and the government technically doesn't have the authority to enforce such agreements, rendering them null to begin with
This also isn't even getting into the gross overreach of copyright already violating US private ownership laws.

Thats why the way they try to spin it now is that you don't "own" videogames, you are buying a licence/subscription to play said videogames. Of course, this also has never been challenged in court and probably won't hold either but until that happens its a legal grey area where the company and their lawyers have the loudest voice.

It's why people shouldn't have invested in China so much, long term moral decisions always secure your business in the long run, it's why Disney's shit now instead of dead in the 80's. Hey shitmouth, the issue with the valve case being thrown out because the accusation was that Valve specifically set up gambling services to defraud children, which is objectively untrue.
The issue wasn't that Valve had gotten users to agree to the arbitration clause which is what was technically argued, but that third party usage of the API is not endorsed by Valve and is accepted at risk by the end user.

An objective fact that Valve does not provide any sort of service to cash out of the virtual economy
And the reason it's an UNAUTHORIZED USE, is because Valve explicitly doesn't permit usage of their API for real money sales specifically for the washington Gambling act.
Yeah we can spin the fuck around all goddamn day about whether or not this proves Valve can use the arbitration clause to violate consumer law IN LITERALLY EVERY CASE (hint it doesn't, and that's why the notion was permitted), but still you are ignoring the fact that the plaintiff had explicitly brought up a charge that was false against Valve.

Nips can still churn out some good shit. And one or two nip indie guys whenever they decide they want to go full Romero&Carmack in their mother's garage in Osaka or something. Take a look at Sakuna or yesteryear's Croixler Sigma and Mitsurugi Hikae Kamui.
It's the chinks you should be afraid off, since they are now trying to not only make more games with the fucking Bethesda open source engines of all things but they also churn those basterds out faster than the fucking koreans churn out MMOs every year. And the chink games are getting localized not only faster but also pushed as much as nip games, especially the whole "China Heroes" thing that even Sony jumped on to, to romote more chinese indie studios and creators and gave fundings to the Lost Soul Aside dude.

Go home Todd, you're drunk.

>complaining about achievements
>complaining about adds in loading screens without specifying if its f2p or not
Literal faggotry.
The only valid point he has is about locking additional content behind paywalls instead of offering it free of charge during updates. If this modern game was available in the 90s, everyone would've shit their pantsus. And op like the fag he always is, will only be able to complain about muh achievements

What makes you think that every time you have some retarded revelation it deserves an entire thread?

There should really be a collection of "modern vidya games are bad" threads from 2007 to 2020. Then we could all discuss the nature of the video games market and what's it like no longer be the target demographic.
