Everyone has to fight even if they suck, adds more variety to the game that way. Switch every 2/3 levels. Rule's only broken if a boss requires it.
>Racing games
Sound SFX to the max and game music to 0% and replaced with long Euro-beat mixes. NOT listening to Deja-vu a hundred times.
>Discoverable map.
Uncover every square of the map, not apply on open world games. Autism I know.
>Weapons/Equipment
If each weapon or outfit looks different stick pick the coolest looking, within reason of course. Best builds are for faggots anyway.
>Love interests
Harem route or everyone gets NWF'd unless the game demands it to advance. In that case pick the interest that gives best benefits.
>In-game books/reading material
Read every single thing available to you ,if it's boring skim through it. It usually gives a better perspective of the world you are playing. This was a hell in Deus Ex tho.

I like slow weapons that hit for big numbers, and I like lightly armored characters that go fast, and I really love combining those two. And if it's a game with a holy trinity, I always go tank and just pump points into stamina and armor, even if I hit like a wet noodle, I can get bullied by fifty rape goblins and never go below 95% health.

Try to low-level clear. Not to an absurd, "proving a point to gamefaqs" extent, but just use the stat buffs or whatever tools the game offers. Don't be a niglet who can't read instructions or descriptions or think ahead. Use the goddamned megalixirs instead of hoarding them forever. Only grind to make it easier as a last resort. The overarching principle is to achieve mastery. Getting to the end without hitting the top of the skill curve seems somehow like a hollow victory.
Also, always keep the biggest titty bitch in the party, but that's obvious.

I always go for archer classes/builds first when I play an RPG.
I judge many games almost solely on the quality of its bow and arrow gameplay.
So far, I have to say that Dragon's Dogma is my favorite. Too bad DD has a shit-tier leveling system. I'd much rather they had gone the Monster Hunter route and made stats rely solely on equipment.
And I'm still salty as hell that Capcom didn't localize DD Online. I loved the improvements they made to the bow mechanics.

It gets hilarious in some games where the final battle becomes an actual breeze because a combination of all the good items, and grinding character stats to upper levels to play the game without using the aforementioned items. What >>16865451 avoids purposely.
Feel >>16865607 because NG+, or at least second playthrough, is generally where I can relax, and not worry about using items at the "wrong" time.
At least my favorite games recently break that habit by design. And yeah, the fact they do that is one of the reasons why end up shilling them.

I'm the opposite in that I always play full magefag first time around, I like the initial handicap keeping me humble. However we're the same with buff potions/items I usually just horde and sell them for mad profit, provided they're not essential to wiping some fugger out of course. I tend to play women first, it used to be to see if there was any sex specific dialogue but now I *know* if there is it will be ham fisted crowbarred in muh gender garbage, now it's just to see if I can make a passably attractive female, which is becoming one of the more genuinely difficult aspects of modern gaming.
If there's any kind of economy in a game I try my darndest to exploit and/or break it I steal FUCKING EVERYTHING not nailed down that can be sold, I'll walk encumbered for miles, I'll pick up every two-bit fragment of shit imaginable to sell by the assload to get a nice shirt and sword before I get out of the first place with a shop. In Kingdom Come Deliverance I immediately fucked off the plot went and picked flowers for three days straight realtime, fought no-one and made (I think) about 24 grand before I even bothered getting a weapon (I then quickly realised hunting makes you mad bank but whatever) suddenly Henry was suited and booted primed to kick dicks in the dirt with a fuck-off fast horse, all funded by picking flowers like a big fucking girls blouse.
If I can have a theme outfit and vehicle of my own colour I will use that shit permanently.

The player's class upon level up determines stat gains, and the player only has one universal stat pool instead of each class having its own stat pool. Anti-savescum. I usually only save after beating one or two levels, or just to pick up from where i left after quitting the game. I don't reload saves after failing every single pickpocket, lockpick, minor RNG, skill check or other dumb shit.
It's a shame that almost no games ever favor proper use of saves nowadays. Whenever i bring this up, normalfags always go "if you don't like savescumming, just don't abuse saves!", but on most games that just feels like crippling yourself and playing high stakes with no more reward than someone who just tardrushes and loads a save over and over until winning. And no one will ever believe you or care if you tell them you beat a game without using a single save anyways.
