Replayed this game and honestly this game while overrated and overhyped isn't godawful either it's alright to meh. The fugal zombies are probably one of the most unique concepts I've seen but are placed in a game that tries to be the road but fails as it lacks the same real bleakness the road has. The Last of us is baby's first survival game that tried to be like other post apocalyptic or bleakcore works but tried to add a pedowood spin of Father and Surrogate Dautherifu that made the story predicable as fuck, if ND actually had the balls (which they fucking don't) they would have gone full I'am legend or the road bleak with the game and utterly destroying any hope of real optimism.

Spores would get on your retard clothes and the gas mask would be useless
it's completely meaningless, gas mask isn't a mechanic either.

>bootleg ellen page can't die, sometimes she'll get grappled but it's meaningless
>deep moral conflict between two main factions, the gubmint, keeps doing fascisms and genocide for no reason, and the fireflies, brave antifa warriors who keep blowing up gubmint and running the last trannyfication surgery hospital in america.
I'd rather replay RE4.

It was… decent. Too bad it seems the sequel is going for a lesbian revenge plot. How does being gay in a post apocalyptic world make sense? Are you really going to be that selfish with the end of humanity on the line? Joel should've killed that bitch when he had the chance.

Problems with the game:
>AI
The AI are dumb as bricks. Everyone already knows about how the teaser shown at the game's debut during E3 was nothing like the final product.
>Level design
The cool thing about RE4's design was that the corridor segments of each map tend to facilitate combat, while their open ended counterparts were built around a combination of exploration and puzzle solving. Yes, there were many combat scenarios in RE4 but many of them were sprinkled in between a series of rooms that housed a secret or a clue that needed to be accessed in order for the player to proceed, almost like a dungeon in Zelda.
In comparison, TLoU's level design is all corridor, with a smattering of alternate pathways that can almost always be safely ignored. In fact, the only thing they offer is non-essential items that add "personality" to the world. At least in RE4 you can find precious jewels and other treasures that give you something valuable in terms of gameplay.
>Weapons and Upgrades
This game's weapon crafting is the definition of a "tacked-on" upgrade tree. You have base level weapons that are all improved using the same materials and resources that are scattered throughout the world in static locations, which means that players must play the game multiple times over in order to increase their weapon's throughput. Same thing goes for the main character's stats. In typical RPGs, the player isn't usually railroaded by such restrictions, so they could theoretically spend 500 hours in a low level area grinding for drops that allow them to earn resources, improve their character, and game the system a bit, at least until they hit diminishing returns. TLoU does not benefit from this system because the process of strengthening one's character is needlessly lengthy and tedious, and there is no method by which players can improve their character before any given arbitrary gatekeeping event in the story.
>Enemies
There are two major types of enemies and sub types within each class, but they almost all act identical with minor variations. On humanity's side you've got shotgun wielders, revolver wielders, melee users, and molotov throwers. On the infected side you have normal zombies, runners, clickers, and bloaters. Each type has its role, but they're so simplistic that the combat scenarios end up being dull. With humans you play whack-a-mole-third-person-cover-shooting and with the zombies you play keep away while aiming for the head.
>Stealth
The stealth is very poorly conceived; humans don't notice bodies of their fallen comrades, they follow very simplistic routes that don't change, and once you alert one mook you will inevitably alert them all. Once alerted, it's not possible to hide and wait for enemies to return to a default state, and in some segments of the game more enemies will be spawned when the player is discovered, which encourages combat. Aside from this, the game is filled with Uncharted-esque scripted events that force combat scenarios over stealth because the "gameplay" is being informed by the story and not the other way around.
>Survival
Players are given the illusion of survival in this game. There are a variety of items to collect that can be used to create various consumables, but they're only ever found in static locations and in certain levels of availability, depending on the difficulty. Difficulty dictates how much damage the player can receive and not much else, so the only meaningful stat players must manage is the health bar, and as long as one can easily respond to the various combat scenarios hurled their way, this becomes a relatively easy task. The main character never becomes irreparably wounded or sick or otherwise debilitated outside of specific story events that have no bearing on the gameplay, so they have no "survival" mechanics to contend with. Scavenging for supplies is more like a literary contrivance, an excuse to encourage players to think as though they're in the game, than it is a meaningful addition to the game's systems.
>Story
Who cares, it's pretty safe post apocalyptic drivel with a tinge of feminist commentary that portrays humanity in a dark light and attempts to emphasize the selfishness that we all may harbor as individuals, but it's so hamfisted and blatantly emotionally manipulative that it ultimately feels forced and tasteless as a result.
>Multiplayer
It was fun but severely limited and the DLC weapons skewed the game balance. It's worth playing just to try, but it's a fleeting drop in an ocean of multiplayer focused games.

Like some anons have said, it was okay. But, calling it the Citizen kane of games and giving it 10s wasn't really deserved. Its basically a hybrid of RE4 and ICO (coincendentally both are Druckmann's two favorite games) with a coating of TWD.

From the way you describe stealth it sounds like the devs had some idea that they were making "realistic" stealth rather than video-game-type stealth. Spawning was just a lazy way of punishing players that failed stealth a lazy way to balance combat against stealth. A lot of the rest just sounds like regular old bad design and a bad integration of RPG and survival-horror game mechanics.

You show the absolute hedonism and apathy that destroys whatever survived the apocalypse, like rage 2 where you have doped out furfags with buttplugs killing each other on live tv for that 1 satellite and 5 tv's left in the world.
that's "apocalypse" though, because post-apocalypse should be about moving on from the destruction and building something new, rebuilding something from the past etc.

I actually also replayed it recently because I got it for super cheap and I was bored. I decided to replay it on the hardest difficulty which makes it blindingly obvious that the game was not designed for this mode.
>Stealth
Absolutely loath how there are sections where you literally cannot proceed until you kill off all the enemies even if you manage to get passed them all without detection. It's so obvious that the dev's designed the game for you to get detected most of the time and have to fight.
>Survival Players are given the illusion of survival in this game.
spot fucking on. The game is so obnoxiously obvious with the illusion of scarcity that the game will start dishing out bullets once you run out but you'll kill thirty dudes and not one pistol bullet will drop.
I would also like to add on
>Melee is broken
Because of the way melee puts the player into a "cinematic" animatoin melee is broken as fuck for both the player and the npcs. There will be times where joel will teleport half a meter towards the enemy to hit them but then when you need it most he'll just stand there like an idiot and swing at the air. That's as long as you can even actually hit the fuckers since sometimes it'll bug out because the enemy and you aren't in the right place so it won't play the nice animation and you'll both swing through each other. Or even worse you'll swing through him and he'll play his instant kill animation.
You'll also get hit someitmes when using a weapon because he does a big cinematic build up swing when using a weapon so even though you pressed it like a second before the enemy was aware you'll get hit first. If you haven't noticed this was probably the one thing that killed me the most on the hardest difficulty since enemies basically become able to do instant kill animations on you like how in other games the player is able to do instant kill take downs except now you're on the receiving end and it's super fucking annoying.
TLDR; "cinematic" animations fucking ruin the melee.

Women become firefighters for the same reason they join the army - they just cannot fail unless they pass the fitness test that, most of the time, is much easier than the test for men. When they get in they can just slack off and can easily count on men to do all the heavy lifting because lady. Also they're subject to much less scrutiny and lighter punishment.

I remember seeing the kiss in the DLC and thinking to myself
>Wow, that really says a lot about Ellie's abandonment issues. The emotional trauma of losing the people she loved makes her attach herself to just about anyone that cares about her. Really puts Ellie's clingy behavior in the main game into perspective. That's some pretty nice Show-Don't-Tell writing
But I forgot that this was Neil Druckmann's work, and if Neil ever has even a nugget of a good idea, he'll do everything in his power to ruin it, hence why he came out saying "YEAH ELLIE IS TOTALLY GAY XD LOLOLOL" and ruined all of emotional weight and genuinely decent writing that moment provided.

There is no hope at the end of the game. Ellie isn't harvested to make a cure only to grow up and become a bitter lesbian. So even if there was a chance of her immunity being hereditary, it was lost with her making out with literal stinky brown people. Humanity was doomed so that Ellie could be stunning and brave.

It won't do well anyway because it will lack the daddy-daughter stuff that the first one had.
