Licensed games, Movie games in particular have a stigma against them. It is true that there are plenty of licensed games out there that were quickly thrown together for a quick buck, allot of the time the reason for a mediocre Movie game is due to the fact that the Developers only had the production time of the movie to make the game, maybe even less, and they are usually restricted to the exact plot of the movie, a story that could work for a movie, but is not structured for how a game should be. But that's just 1 kind of Licensed game, it's not actually too hard to brush all the shit games to the side and then start finding some actually fun games. The best kind of Licensed or Movie game are the ones that able to ditch following the script word for word and instead use the universe it has to the fullest for the opportunity of the game has.
I'm sure every has at some point taken a chance on one Licensed game, and said "Hey this game is actually awesome!"
Everyone has to have at least one Licensed game they still like to go back and play to this day.

I was too retarded to beat Meet the Robinsons when I was 9. As I recall the movie was still in theatres but I hadn't seen it yet and all my friends were talking about it so my aunt got me a copy of it. There was some level where you go into the basement and the robots tell you
>YOU ARE NOT PERMITTED TO BE IN THIS AREA
and they kicked my ass. Keep in mind my only experience with games up to that point were comfy movie licensed platformers, and Sims shit, so anything combat related and remotely stressful caused me to freak out.
I eventually gave up on that part and just spent a long time exploring the mansion. I don't even have a copy of that game anymore.

The main one I want to gush about right now Is Wanted: Weapons of Fate. This is a game that I would go back to over the years, but this year on my latest replay it really has become a real favorite of mine, I'v easily played it over 10 times in the last few weeks. Rather then be a retelling of the Movie, it's actually a sequel, but it's story is so much more interesting, Cross is given an actual compelling character, Wesley gets to be cool for the whole game, and the fraternity's existence makes allot more sense when the French fraternity are the enemy, and they are all fanatics to the code of the Loom. It's really just a better story then the movie.
Gameplay wise it came out 1 year before Vanquish, and if we aren't counting that game, I'd saw Weapons of Fate is one of the best Cover shooters I'v ever player. the game is really only an hour long, but that's too it's benefit, The game actually wants you to get good enough at it that you can beat it in under an hour, once you beat it on Hard your shown the your time in comparison to the devlopers so it's taunting you with how long you took, The is almost zero bullshit padding in the game, yes there is some turret and sniper sections but they are actually completed the faster you kill all the enemies, so it's still skill based, and not just something to take up time. The game has a head shot mode, and a close quarters mode, where you can't proceed to the next section of a level until you earn enough headshots/Melee kills. There is allot of content in the game it's just all encouraging you to replay it and get better, back in the day it was seen as just a short rental, but like a Devil May Cry game, the first playthough of Wanted is just the tutorial.
https://repack-mechanics.com/207-wanted-weapons-of-fate-2009-rs-repack-ot-rg-mehaniki.html
You can torrent the game and beat it once in about 3 hours, so I'd hope anyone who thinks it looks cool would give it a shot.

Meet the Robinsons the game was great because it let you spend a few hours in sets that got around ten minutes tops in the movie. Its like they took all the unused ideas from the movie, which flopped hard despite being one of a succession of attempts to sell a story about Disney's Tomorrowland, and made a game out of it. Its also very white which is always a plus and increasingly rare.

Also fun facts, the game was made by Grin Studios, they were the same ones that made both Bionic Commando the reboot, And Bionic Commando Rearmed, Grin eventually got shutdown but the team split up, some of them became Overkill Software which went on to make Payday, and the other became Fatshark which were the ones who made Bionic Commando Rearmed 2, and they now made Warhammer: Vermintide 2 recently.

The mummy Demastered really is a Solid title by Wayforward, it's a good Metroidvania, with some Contra Style controls. The only problem is it's lack of replayability, but enough time has passed now I might play the game again now, it really is fun.

You can play though the entity of Vanquish as a Cover shooter as a crutch, Just because Vanquish is a really good game, does that really mean it shouldn't be called a cover shooter? it's a Crazy game, the title for a genre of game that are simply good, and not average therefor they shouldn't be associate with games that have similar mechanics. If you have a better name for Vanquish that isn't stupid then please enlighten me.
I compare it to Wanted since Wanted also doesn't want you to spend too much time in cover, but it allows you to stay in it as a crutch. Wanted the main use of cover is so you can take advantage of your other abilities such as bullet time cover switching.

Gameplay of Ghost Rider, it takes place after the Movie I believe it's a bit off a cross between DMC and God of War, it has a mechanic where some enemies you can't harm until your at a high enough Style rating, that was years before DmC's Must Style mode did it. You can also unlock Blade as a unique playable character who can feed off enemies for health.

Yeah but by that logic, Transformers games aren't based on toys or shows or movies, since every goddamn thing is canon to Transformers. It's still a toy first. Same with Digimon. It's a virtual pet first. And the games based on the anime are canon to the anime, but they're still based on the anime, which is based on the virtual pet toy.

Is he not in Fast and the Furious anymore? I know they're still doing those. If they do give him less roles, though, it makes sense, since I don't see him pushing for their propaganda as much as they would want him to. Which makes sense if he's actually into D&D and stuff. He knows their crusades against things like that are horseshit.

Yes Im sure Michael Bays Transformers movies are canon to the Transformer continuity.
Aside from that, toys have no narrative structure so they have no canon. They are fucking toys. Therefore toys being the base of anything doesnt actually mean anything narratively, unless we're talking about Toy Story.
Butcher Bay was made as an equal part of the franchise to Pitch Black narratively.

>Yes Im sure Michael Bays Transformers movies are canon to the Transformer continuity.
They are. We had a thread a couple days ago with a few people trying to explain Transformers lore. EVERYTHING is canon. The War For Cybertron/Fall of Cybertron games that people liked were ruined when they crossed over directly with the movies in the third game. And the comics always cross over all the different universes and stuff.
>Aside from that, toys have no narrative structure so they have no canon.
You don't even know, bro. The toys almost all have text on the back of the package that forms a larger story, backed up with a few pack-in comics and commercials and stuff. And occasionally a comic or something will actually take place in the toy universe. The same thing happens with GI Joe and My Little Pony and other toy-first franchises.
But even ignoring the Transformers multiverse, if we just want to look at one universe, War For Cybertron/Fall of Cybertron/Rise of the Dark Spark (the one that crossed over with the movies) is the same universe as the tv shows Transformers: Prime, Transformers: Rescue Bots, and Transformers: Robots in Disguise (2016). In fact, the games came out first. But are you gonna sit there and say those games aren't based on the earlier shows, or comics, or ultimately, toys?
Digimon is another interesting example. Everything is based on the Virtual Pets. Digimon World then came out before the first anime or manga, but the anime really doesn't take many cues from the game, even though it's the same universe. Then there were a series of games on WonderSwan that were based on the anime and do reference the anime heavily. And the anime does actually reference the games in return. But nobody would count them as an equal part of the franchise, considering they're only on WonderSwan, and thus never released in most of the world, and only in Japanese (except one). Digimon is a weird case, but you'll notice almost every piece of fiction media in the franchise tries to sell the V-pets in some way, because they're the core of the franchise. Also sometimes the V-pets have pack-in comics and stuff, giving them their own continuity in the multiverse.

This game was oddly fun; the 4 playable characters that all played fairly differently, there were upgrades for all of them and there was a heavy emphasis on exploring the map to try to find all the secrets and items to maximize what the characters could do and helped to flesh out the setting. The big downsides to it was that you could really tell they didn't think anyone who didn't read the books or watch the movie would play the game so they don't explain much about what's going on, though this can also be a plus if you don't give a shit about plots in vidya, and the final boss was pretty bad.

Also I never noticed this until after I finished recording the whole thing, but the Final 2 levels last Half the fucking game. that explains allot as why those final levels took me so long to get though in 1 shot considering that's were the legit hard enemies start coming out, I'm able to breeze though the first part of the game.

There is no other name for it but Jank, but tend to really enjoy it when things are Jank in just the right way.
I have to admit that Path of Neo is pretty much the definition of a button masher, there isn't a whole lot of a reason to actually pay attention to what combos your doing, but I say it's one of the few games were that is okay, since the goal of the game is, "I wanna do cool Neo shit" so the game being challenge wasn't a priority.
Although Path of Neo still has one of the best Difficulty selects of all time, If your a bitch you only get to pick Easy mode, if your determined enough to keep going, then you can defeat Agent Smith and pick Hard mode. If you Can't beat Smith, you can't pick hard.

You're right about the difficulty select. I kinda appreciate it when games try to integrate that as a mechanic WITHOUT trying to constantly guess and adjust difficulty. "Beat one boss" like this game or "find the difficulty option" like what Quake did is a whole lot more engaging than the game's developers trying to make some system to do it, which the players will always find ways to game anyhow.

The game worked because it let people who were kids when they saw the movies wanted to do: put on a proton pack and bust ghosts. Just the sound effects made that game work for me. I would expect that game to be a huge VR title if it was marketed well enough, although powerful haptic feedback would really be needed to make the experience feel right.

Of course, this will never ever happen because we can't have anything better than mediocre and "good enough" in this shit industry.

I remember playing Enter The Matrix a bunch of times when I was younger and really enjoying it, that was before I actually played/owned Path of Neo. I still really like Path of Neo, but I went back and Played Enter the Matrix for old times sake…
and wew lad almost nothing in that game holds up… I would always just play Ghost, and never actually beat the game as Niobe, so when I did now, it was pretty lackluster to see most of the Exact same levels and cutscenes just with Ghost or Niobe swapping places. The 2 campaigns are nearly the exact same save for a short exclusive part to both characters in the middle.
I can appreciate what they tried to do, with having exclusive live action parts in the game, those are neat to watch, but the game as a whole… not great.

Great run, Anon! Played through the game yesterday and enjoyed it a lot, my only problem with it was the horrible mouse deceleration which made aiming pretty awful sometimes. I've read online that the problem comes with increasing the resolution but I wasn't willing to sacrifice 1080p for smoother aiming, and it only really was a problem during the turret sections anyway. But still, great game that deserves more love.

Yes, and it had a great story with some cool twists and a satisfying payoff. The game itself was kind of janky, but it wasn't terrible. I think the license might have been from the books but a couple of actors from the show reprise their roles.
I think the great highlight is that unlike the book series which will never be finished due to plot thread sprawl, or the show which ended with a wet fart as the big threat wasn't a big deal and no conclusion felt right or earned, the game does the intertwined plot thing but does something with it and delivers in the last part. I won't spoil it, but in the end everything that was set up makes sense and you get a great sense of catharsis as the credits roll.

I'm curious about that… The 360 and PS3 versions of the game had different ending from the PC version.
I'm assuming the German version is censored, so I'm wondering what ending it has?
While the PC ending is funny, I'd like having the 360/PS3 ending as a mod option, if that ending is in the German version assuming it has an English voice over, I think it would be a simple matter of getting the cs09D2.bik file from the and swapping them.
This is all me making allot of assumptions tho… there is also a good chance that what i'm thinking won't even work, or that the ending is the same anyway…

If I remember right, the biggest company to do that was Square Enix in relation to an action game based on FFXII. The devs had to get things approved by them for including stuff, but they made some insane conditions like 'send the code by fax' and when they submitted art for characters in the game, Square said 'not Final Fantasy enough,' which would be fine except for the fact that the art was the main cast of FFXII. The GRIN mask in Payday 2 references what happened: https://payday.fandom.com/wiki/Masks_(Payday_2)#Infamous_.28Card_Drops.29

If your just going for the achievements, Then DMC2 is easy, due to being able to Cheeze BP mode with the unlimited DT code and Trish. In that case Yaiba is going to be the bigger pain in the ass due to the Harder modes getting to a point where you keep dying in just one hit. Still Yaiba has decent amounts of checkpoints, so it's just a matter of determination. It wasn't much considering I beat Ninja Gaiden 2 on Master Ninja Long before I played Yaiba.
But If your actually going for all S ranks in DMC2 then that's a different story since in my research when S ranking the whole game, I found it pretty clear they never actually play tested Getting S ranks on DMD/LMD mode, they at most did it for only Normal. I'm postive the last level with Dante is borderline impossible to S rank if you aren't using Unlimited DT, due to you just not having enough time to kill both boss phases.

I realized that back in 2006 when I got it on release as an 11 year old… although nowadays I think i'd say Sonic Adventure 2 Shadow as the best version of the character. but 06 is still high on the list.
That being said I actually did 100% Sonic 06 about a month ago. I was playing unleashed next… but I was enjoying it less due to how repetitive it's content gets when your actually going for all it's achievements, so i'v put it down for now.

On the other hand I had an similar experience as your describing when I got all the Trophies in God of War 2018, The longer that game went on, the more it pissed me off with it's design decisions, such as the RPG elements only being there so they can keep throwing the same kind of enemies at you only with higher number values, but i'm a fan of classic style God of War so I already had a problem with 2018 going into it, the only reason I played it was because my brother bought it.

I wish they just made a movie version of it as a special feature on one of the DVDs or something. I guess basically an "official playthrough." They did include the live action cutscenes on one of the DVDs, but you're still missing stuff then, since you're just jumping between levels. I know I could watch a playthrough on youtube now, but it's just not the same. I want it to be as close to a movie as possible. Optimized for that. I could watch a speedrun, but that's a different kind of optimized.
Watching the whole Matrix series again recently really gave me an appreciation I didn't have for it when the sequels first came out. I thought they were fucking stupid originally, but now I appreciate how deep and subtly they tried to build the world, with all this multimedia stuff that is actually canon and actually referenced in the movies. Sure, the second movie suffers from having a significant plot arc actually take place in the video game, resulting in a bunch of set up that results in characters leaving and then doing all the cool shit they talked about off screen, but if you do look at al the multimedia stuff, it pays off.

No, I'm just a Fan of God of War so I felt like I should have at the very least gotten all the Trophies to formulate a strong opinion on the game. I knew it would be easy so I did so, and I stopped at the 1 all Trophies playthough, I didn't touch new game plus or any of that stuff. I played most of the GoW games on the hardest difficulty because I wanted to for those games, but to get Trophies in God of War games they never actually made beating Very Hard mode a requirement. I suppose to make it reasonable for people who only care about Trophies and not the actual game. In the end I don't even think 2018 was that bad, just suffered from being held back by following every single open world trend that there has been for years. I would have liked the game more if it didn't feel like it overstays it's welcome.

Now I dug out my old 360 copy of Weapons of Fate just for comparisons sake… And holy shit… I'v gotten far too used to PC over the years. the 3rd cutscene had to finish, and then the game had to cut to a loading screen, a loading screen that you never see on PC unless you die, and the game needs to send you back to a checkpoint.
How did anyone stand playing games like this during the 360/PS3 generation, myself induced. I guess when you don't know any better your not aware that there is even a problem.
Controller vs Mouse is one thing… but everything else?

Well now that I beat the game 3 more times and got used to it, the 360 version isn't all that bad, just the fact I needed to wait for it to load allot more was just pretty jarring, since in the PC version you can basically store the whole game if you load each level a head of time. and then when you start a new run of the game, there is barely any loading.
Regardless I was able to beat the 360 versions time attack mode in 59:03, that was with a few deaths here and there. Compared to me PC version time of 51:47 with zero deaths. Still if felt good to get the top place in the 360 version since I never did it legit all those years ago, instead I used the glitch that use the level select to start Time attack, and then skip to the last level, which just lets you save 8 levels worth of time, and you have an hour to beat only the last level.

Just thought of two more.
The Simpsons: Hit & run, or Road Rage are usually remembered fondly… but I'v rarely heard the Futurama game be brought up over the years, that game is great. It was released pretty much the same week the final episode of season 4 was. I'v looked it up an apparently it's considered the 73rd episode of the show, it's cutscenes and some gameplay footage was included in the "The Beast with a Billion Backs" DVD and was titled Futurama: The Lost Adventure.
Highly recommend this game if your a fan of the show.
The other game would be Tron Evolution, that game was a prequel to the movie, The player character's name is officially "Anon" due to the fact they wanted the player to put themselves in the characters shoes.
I'm still kind of salty how the games events are just brushed past with like 1 off hand line of dialog by Quorra in the movie. I know it's not exactly reasonable to expect the movie to talk about it at all… but Anon is the reason the ISOs weren't whipped out completely, Saved that bitches life…

Probably not. Gamecube seemed pretty far along, but apparently it was cancelled because they didn't think it would sell. Source code and all the assets have apparently been destroyed though, so we'll never know for sure.

Is this running on that Xbox emulator or on PCSX2? I recall hearing that futurama was one of, if not the, first game(s) that is in any way running right now.
Games sure are different now though.

I mean I think it's about the same quality as Simpsons Hit & Run / Road Rage, only Futurama is Linear and level based, I'd say to emulate it and give it another shot, but if it's not your thing gameplay wise, you can still just watch all the cutscenes, since they did package them all into a Moive you can watch on one of the DVD's.

I think both darkness games are pretty interesting, although the first is far better than the second.
Considering how well PS3 emulation is chugging along right now, the darkness may already be emulatable or ar the very least be on its way to being playable within the foreseeable future.

I really liked the third age, it looked pretty cool for the time and had pretty neat details if you are a LotR fan, the turn based jrpg system worked pretty nice on the game, but then again, it was one of the first PS2 games I ever played.

Fond memories of the Monsters Inc. game. Does it hold up? From what I can remember, it can get very repetitive with scaring the robot things.

At that time I bought a lot of Simpsons/Futurama games, and honestly, never got into them for some reason, I literally got Hit & Run, Simpsons The Game, and Futurama. My experience with Simpsons The Game was terrible, seriously one of the worst games I've ever played regardless of those small details within the game, and I only finished it because I really liked The Simpsons. Then I tried Futurama and it felt basically the same, and I didn't want to go through it again. All these years I thought I dodged a bullet, and even now, I don't even feel like going back to it.

I suppose if you have high standards, then the Futurama game might not be that great, i'm just a big fan of the show so that makes me enjoy it. Still I'd say it's jokes work better if you actually playing it, since that video I posted here >>16862938 actually cut out one of the best jokes from the first level.
Either way, Simpsons Hit & Run is still considered a classic, so out of the 3 games you had, if you didn't play Hit & Run that's probably the one that's the most worth your while, I'v only ever played the DS version of The Simpsons game years ago, so I can really say if the other versions are any good. But I think the PS2/Wii Version is pretty different from the PS3/360 version, can't say if any of them are good tho…

Yeah, I'm not sure Futurama's worth $100 either. Blood Will Tell, yeah, you wouldn't know it was a licensed game from the spine, but the actual cover does specify that it was a Dororo game. Western front cover really bad in general though; you wouldn't know what was going on or what it was about without having watched the opening FMV first (which it's a still taken from).
I got lucky and found a copy for $22 a year or two back. Even then prices were getting pretty high, but I'd wager last year's Dororo anime has also spiked both them and demand to new levels. If you have a good enough PC for emulating, or a modded PS2/PS3, those methods can also benefit from the undub patch, as Sega only bothered with English audio here.

Futurama fans are probably jacking up the price. Doesn't help that the game didn't sell well, and there isn't likely going to be an HD release of it.

Depends on your criteria. Daytona(NASCAR) Netlink for the Saturn is about a thousand bucks, while Magical Knight Rayearth for the Saturn is about 500.

I terms of the game yeah, Fry and Bender both Die once in the cutscenes, and get cloned, but at the same time game takes place within a time loop, to try and stop Mom. Fry, Bender, and Leela, end up going back in time one week, but then after the final level the re-animator gets destroyed, and they all die, only for the 3 of them from that time period to not know about it so they go through the events of the game, which will just result in the exact same thing happening.
In terms of the show it depends on how canon the game is supposed to be, in the game Mom becomes the supreme ruler of earth at the start, and that never actually gets changed due to the time travel, And the return of the show never acknowledges the events of the game, so it's probably not canon.

So I just finished replaying Path of Neo the first time after like 10 years, and its still pretty fun. The combos are pretty brain dead but there are some advanced ones which you have to find out by experimenting. The levels are hit or miss but the hammy ones are super fucking fun, and the "glitchy" ones get really creative from time to time. The entirety of Merowingians mansion is a fucking blast, but the final fight with Smith feels kinda underwhelming considering they introduce a new combat system for that one which is essentially just QTEs.
Also after playing a couple of missions on the PC version and getting some serious fucking visual glitches, I bit the bullet and got the PS2 version, and holy shit if the PC port isnt a huge downgrade. I had to rebind the face buttons tho because the layout is straight retarded. Oh and theres slowdowns in some cutscenes because of too many dust particles used. They made aiming manual in the port which does 3 things: it fucks with the cover popping mechanic because your perspective is shifted significantly every time you pop out, it removes the possibility to use guns in melee which is a huge part of the combat system, and the best for last: autoaim corrects for spread, manual aim doesnt. Basically when you manually aim, 70% of the shots dont connect.
Also a bunch of pretty significant graphical effects were removed in the port, I assume because they fucked with the manual aim.
