I suppose this is as good a thread as any to ask. Why is bethesda fallout so much more "patriotic"? what I mean by that is that fallout 3 is not only set in the capital but also has a bunch of American history like the emancipation of the slaves and the American revolution. Fallout 4 even has the minutemen and the railroad in it but I haven't played that one so I cant give anymore examples. Granted I am a Swede and have never been in America so maybe the East coast is just like this and there's minutemen statues all over the place.

Honestly, most games are patriotic. Even Xcom you could say is patriotic in that it's humans uniting against aliens. It's just in that case patriotism would be for earthlings. Seeing as how patriotism doesn't really require everyone to be the same nationality. If there's a world government then everyone defending the world could be considered patriotic. The biggest exception to this I can think of is puzzle games were the problem is more abstract.
Nationalistic games are harder to find, but exist quite a lot in the strategy genre probably because different races or species (for space games) are an easy way to set up different factions with different playstyles. All factions looking the same would be boring and it harder to tell what's going on at a glance.
