Anyone here hack their Switch? Hard to find people that have since you need an old model, and most early adopters are loyal fags that pay for multiplayer.
It's nice to be able to pirate new Nintendo exclusives, and multiplats that aren't on PC. Homebrew like sys-clk and sys-con are cool too.

I'm too lazy to get an old model switch. How is emulation going tho? I heard they ported Serious Sam FE to the Switch, is that true?

I haven't tried any emulators except mGBA because they don't interest me much. mGBA works fine.

Yes, there are ports of First Encounter and Second Encounter, there's gameplay videos on YouTube.

I bought my switch back in the summer of 2018 right after I got my 2nd or 3rd paycheck from my first job. I got it refurbished online for $250.
I had to wait a month for homebrew to get better so I could hack it myself but in the meantime I would borrow bing bong yippee games from my friend and play those while I waited.
I just use my switch to play games at work, play console exclusives or to play games I'd rather not pirate on my pc such as DQ Builders, I never bothered emulating anything yet, but I think the best emulator is Retroarch.
Some games you can get early due to them leaking online such as smash bros or Astral Chain.
I never played my switch in a while though as I'm currently occupied with my PC but I would let my niece borrow it and the fucking retard connected to the internet to play Minecraft even though I told her specifically not to.
Idk if I'm banned or not but she is sure as hell banned from playing my switch.
Getting banned doesnt really matter though due to the fact that I could use certain homebrew software to update my switch and the fact that I never bother to play online anyways, my Nintendo account is probably fucked though.

I only bought a switch because you can hack it, consoles are pretty worthless if you can't hack it.
Still things are pretty barebones without gpu acceleration so better homebrew like moonlight is non-existant and heavier emulators are too cpu reliant.

I got a Switch specifically to softmod it, on ebay, long ago. I was only able to get into RCM mode successfully one time with just a paperclip and no jig. I got a jig later and just soft-bricked the Switch with Auto-RCM so I don't have to short the pins anymore it's just always in RCM when it powers on. I use Rekado on Android to push the Hekate payload since I always have my phone with me that's the most convenient method. After booting Atmosphere CFW I simply put it into sleep mode and try to never let the battery die so I don't have to push the payload again. Sleep mode is pretty effective as it only died one time when I left it in the carrying case for a long time without plugging it in.
I only recently started installing games over USB through Goldleaf. I used to turn off the Switch, copy the .nsp file onto the microSD card, turn the Switch back on in RCM mode, push payload, install the .nsp file with Goldleaf, then delete it with NX-Shell. Plugging the Switch into a PC and just installing .nsp files over USB is much faster and I don't have to risk fucking up the MicroSD by writing and deleting files repeatedly. So I should have being doing it over USB ages ago.
I've been using sys-clk for a while. The gains are not mind-blowing unless the specific game is needlessly downclocking. I have sys-con, but never used it as I have a wireless adapter for my Dualshock 4 controller already and sys-con would require using DS4 with a USB cable, no wireless. The USB micro-B connection on DS4 is kinda shitty so it's not really worth it, but if I ever wanted a lot of players then maybe I would try it. I took the internals out of the Switch dock and put them into a much smaller housing that is far more portable. The official Switch dock housing is just way too much plastic considering the size of the board inside it so I highly recommend doing this especially with claims that the official dock scratches the screen. Got a TG screen protector regardless.
The most useful app for me was Checkpoint since I can easily create and restore saves. The most impressive thing I did with my softmodded Switch (I've posted about this before) is converting my save files from Breath of the Wild Wii U version to Breath of the Wild Switch version so I didn't have to start the game all over again.
I have Retroarch on it. I've put emulators on portable hardware before so it's not mind-blowing to me, it's just nice to have.

I managed to get my exploitable switch in mint condition a year ago in an air force base exchange(In the US, you only need a valid ID to enter bases open to the public.) Just refer to a list of exploitable serial numbers, they're outside on the box so you'll know. http://archive.is/cLMjf
This list information is a outdated since the most important thing is the motherboard type, but an unpatched firmware makes things easier. You can't patch out a hardware exploit.

The hardware exploit involves a bridge on the moba accessible from the outside, if you don't feel like jabbing a paperclip into your expensive hardware you can get a cheap third-party switch bridge that's less likely to fuck up the delicate pins.

Or did you place the sigpatches in the wrong folder?

>Did you uninstall the games then reinstall them?
Yes, reinstalled the update too, didn't work, but that could just be a bad dump, no idea why kirby doesn't install though, it's a firmware issue but i'm running 9.1.0, the latest one.
>Or did you place the sigpatches in the wrong folder?
I don't think so, i just dropped them inside the atmosphere folder.
I don't wanna test more games because i can't get usb install to work either so i have to turn the switch off, remove the sd card, transfer the files with a sd adapter, reinsert the sd card and boot hekate (which means i have to dig out the tinfoil jig i made to enter RCM, connect the switch to the pc and boot hekate though there) so i can boot emuNAND.

Sorry for bumping, but i ended up fixing and i'm posting so people know what to do in case it happens to them.
So i couldn't install certain games because my firmware was too low, but this didn't make sense because i was running 9.1.0 aka the latest, so it had to be either the sigpatches (required for piracy, i did install them beforehand though) or the whole CFW installation (it wasn't because i wouldn't be able to install games at all, or boot emuNAND), so first i redownloaded the sigpatches from https://gbatemp.net/threads/i-heard-that-you-guys-need-some-sweet-patches-for-atmosphere.521164/ like the guide recommended, didn't work. Then i downloaded the sigpatches directly from the forked hekate build the guide recommends https://github.com/Joonie86/hekate/releases , the "Kosmos_patches_03_02_2020.zip" file to be exact, this didn't work either, so i googled the error code and found out that the guy who develops atmosphere (the CFW i'm running) removed some necessary files for piracy, the nigger scrubbed some lines from the hekate_ipl config and removed the whole sigpatch config, so by default you can't install anything that isn't "official", that's why i could only get the ninja warriors again to work, because it's a digital only title and the only way to get it was buying it from nintendo and then dumping it. To fix this all you have to do is download the "Kosmos_patches_03_02_2020_bootconfig.zip" file and unzip it to the root of the sd card, now you can install all sorts of NSP files, the fat32 4GB limit is still an annoyance but luckily i got awoo installer and nsp usb loader to work.

I recently found out that there is separate firmware for the game cart reader and I'm pretty miffed. Talk about an anti-consumer move. I mean, this only punishes people who actually buy games. This has no effect on pirates. And if you're confused about my incoherent rambling, even if you use ChoiDujourNX to safely upgrade firmware so that you don't burn fuses it won't affect the game cart and you either have to disable the cart reader or permanently patch it permanently, so you then can't use it if you ever have to downgrade firmware again. I mean, seriously, what's the point?
