Is there any game you consider yourself particularly good at?

Do you usually try to get all the S ranks in a game?

I used to be a wizard at arena FPS games, specifically AvP2, but over the years, my skills have rusted as my desire to continue playing them has waned to nothingness. Also, the disgusting autism of speedrunners has pushed me away from achieving maximum skill levels in any game. I don't want to be anything like those degenerates who play shit only for the purposes of being almost as good as a TAS. Games are supposed to be fun, not a fucking chore for e-celeb faggotry points. My only goal with games is to enjoy them, and to become geed enough at them that the only times I fail are due to weariness or distraction, not like the retards who are trying their best to become the next Dean Takahashi.

Once in a while, I can tap into my old FPS skills, and become a robotic headshot machine, but that takes a lot of energy to do, and isn't really enjoyable. Now, I mainly play games with other people, just to shoot the shit while playing, or to help them get through a particular section.

I'm in this boat. I've also been away from my normal keyboard and mouse for years, and so I'm starting to be less able to even play regular old platformers. It's really a big difference using a laptop-layout keyboard in your lap versus a full keyboard on a desk. Age isn't helping, either.

Even when I had laptops, I refused to use their built-in keypads and pointers when possible. I have a PS/2 splitter cable for connecting mice and keyboards to older computers without USB, and plenty of USB mice and keyboards. Connect an external monitor to the laptop, stash the system behind it, and you're Golden Grahams.

That said, I barely play video games at all, as everything seems to become dull pretty quickly, or with older games, I recall most of the game within a few minutes of replaying. I remembered where over 95% of the shit was in Super Metroid and Link to the Past, after getting 100% back when those games were still available in retail stores. Kinda' sucks, not really being able to re-experience anything.

My current passion, I suppose, is resurrecting and upgrading old computers. I get more satisfaction out of that, than I do beating most games. Eh, to each his own, I guess.

I collected them because people were giving them away, or selling them for almost nothing at garage sales, and I was curious about them as I didn't have a computer until 1998. Then people started talking about needing older hardware to back up or recover old media, and I figured I should keep everything so I could restore it in the future, and maybe help people transcode data from old disks and tapes.

After that incident, I started collecting firearms, as indicated by the two rifle magazines under the first and fourth images.

Dark Souls requires a particular level of determination to play. If you don't already love it, it may never become a game you're interested in. Trying to force it will just make you grow to hate it, so no sweat. There are a great many other varieties of games that you may find to be in your strike zone, of course.

>not going for 100% on every game that is actually worth playing at all

I used to consider myself good at games. Then I found out about speedrunning, and I'm simply not degenerate enough to bother with the type of shit they do. Also I'm too autistic to deliberately skip parts of games. No matter how many times I've beaten a game before, I need to see every bit possible each time I play. I get triggered by games that force me to make decisions to see different things, unless it's designed in such a way that they expect you to play the game X number of times to see everything.

All that said, I think I'm pretty good at Crash Team Racing. Spent like a decade trying to get every Platinum Relic and beat every Oxide Ghost. Later when the remake came out, my brother got it, and showed me that there were basic secrets and glitches that apparently all the people online were using for years, which I never knew about. When he showed me, it was like when Goku takes off his weighted clothing in Dragon Ball Z. I finally found a game I was actually really good at even online. (Was pretty good at Jak X back in the day, but while "good," never felt like I was nearing the top of how good I could be.) But frankly, a lot of the tricks still feel like bullshit for me. Like repeatedly hopping after hills to conserve speed. Clearly not intended, and I'm too autistic to cheat like that. I know I can beat the game without it, because I did. Everyone else in the world is a cheater.

I remember I used to think I was good at Soul Calibur II because me and my friend practiced against each other all the time and encouraged each other to learn every move for every character good enough that both of us could beat everything on hardest difficulty with all characters, and then kept getting better against each other. Then I went on the internet and found out what true fighting game autism was. I had no idea. I'm absolute shit at every fighting game, and I never even came close to really being good at Soul Calibur II. Broke my heart. It shouldn't have made me have less fun with what was then my favorite game, but it did.

>>16854022

I jumped ship to Rock Band at first opportunity. But I'm pretty proud of being able to 100% a bunch of songs on Expert with both Guitar and Vocals at the same time. Everyone makes fun of Guitar Hero/Rock Band for not really teaching you guitar, but I think it did help me become significantly better at singing. I'm not quite as good on Drums or Keyboard, but I can still do Expert on most songs while still doing Expert Vocals. I really wish Activision didn't oversaturate the market so hard that it killed the entire genre, because I still love this game, but can't find anyone to play with anymore. It's good single player, but really good multiplayer.

My computer is so shit that it can't run Rocksmith, but as soon as I can afford a new one, I'm getting into that game.

>after dipshits stole my priceless collection of classic computers, I replaced it with a collection of firearms

>>16854247

This. Dark Souls is way easier than the average game before the late '90s. Even the ones that had infinite lives. Just beating a game back then meant you were a master at it. I guess I consider myself good at Mega Man 7, just because I was able to beat that fucking final level.

Currently going through Astral Chain on Ultimate. I'd like to get all S+ ranks as well as doing all of the file 12 cases, which is endgame challenge arenas. The game is pretty easy to S+ though so its not a good measure. I don't usually rank hunt in these type of games because it turns a fun experience into constant irritation and a grind because one fuck up means reloading entire sections or even levels.

If I had to put one game forward as my show off one, then probably Dead Rising 1. I've played it enough to where I can do all cases, all scoops, all survivors and level 50 in one run. It isn't terribly impressive but its probably all I have. I'm competent at most other games I play but no master.

By the end of the game I had beaten every mission without equipment, with perfect stealth and even beat all the Skulls melee only. I also refused to use Quiet or D-Dog, since they were both absolutely broken, the only buddy I used was the horse. If you're on Steam, you can check it by going to Community->Crimsonland Hub->View Stats->[Username] Leaderboards. Your global rank will be on the right.

I'm practically invincible at both Super Mario Strikers and Mario Strikers Charged.

The former I can hold out my own on best-out-of-five matches, but on the latter I have legit never lost a single non-shitty-online match. It got to the point where I would let whoever I was playing with choose my team for them (10 goals first rules) and I would still win with an average of 10 - 7.

On the other hand, my significant other is a CTR autist and no matter how much I try I can never manage to beat her consistently, either in time trials or vs/arcade. Not talking about nutctr though, that thing is just okay as a game, physics are floaty as fuck.

Speedrunners, I got autistically into it when I was in highschool. It got to the point where none of my friends wanted to play with me. And I was never that high ranked online I just knew the easy reliable strays and boom.

Was in the same boat with my ex, she pushed my shit in when it came to Kirby air ride. She also had a nearly complete Skyrim save on legendary, but she was kind of shit at it.

I've beaten Tetris Attack vs mode on extra hard, probably a couple thousand times over the last 15 years. I'm not very good compared to the speedrunners, who can bust out longer chains and even concurrent chains, seemingly without effort. But, I did enjoy developing strategy and hand-eye coordination. There always seem to be more ways to optimize your technique.

An amazingly deep game for what it seems to be on the surface.

mah nigga. Beat both the SNES and Game Boy versions completely on the hardest modes. Not 1000 times though. Just once each, and play multiplayer sometimes with other people I got into it. Pokemon Puzzle League can eat a dick. I should probably just play the original Panel de Pon though.

I used to be good at arcade shooters. The local arcade usually had my scores written on top of the Time Crisis 4 leaderboard. Not anymore though.

I'm in kind of the same yet different situation, she really liked it when I showed it to her because of how silly the game can be but she does not feel like putting any effort into it. I guess she just likes CTR because it's practically the only gaming experience she had other than a few other titles.

ST, SF4, GGACP+, Blazblue.

I can't play shooting games or DoTA for shit though, so I have trouble with mainstream multiplayer games.

i consider myself pretty okay in street fighter iii 3rd strike, and for chars like gouki i can do pretty much all advance techniques except jiro demon,

dash demon, true kara demon, you name it, also kara throws but only with macros because on keyobard pressing throw buttons and forward strong is kind of weird also ghosting,

i am also learning melty blood,

also i am super shit at all first person games, which is very weird because they are considered like common games and lot of people are good at them, probably because i have never stably owned a mouse jej

I don't know what the fuck is wrong with my brain and Destiny, I've played Halo and even alot of the Master Chief collection on PC and beat ass in both, but for some reason Destiny's PVP is just never worked for me, but yeah it sucked shit so I don't even bother anymore.

Also surprised to see another person here who played Nosgoth, was kind of a fun game even if I had no idea what the fuck LOK was at the time.
