I'm looking for games for groups of friends to play.
I'd prefer F2P games (since the group has a lot of students/poorfags) but if they're cheap enough, I can buy a couple keys for them.
The two main things I'm looking for are:
>Base Defense
A few of them really like the idea of building a base and then defending it from a horder of enemies. I had a modded Minecraft server for it, but it's gotten old now.
>needs to accomodate 8-10 people
That's usually the size we play at.
As of now, I got them playing Ace of Spades, some modded Mount and Blade server and Factorio (but only half of them have the required autism for that).
They mostly pick low-quality trash that is nevertheless fun, but anything's fun with friends.
I already thought about Jackbox Party shit, but the prices are prohibitibe for this many people.
The only thing I found that they haven't tried yet is Tabletop simulator.
I also got a private box to run dedicated servers. I'd like to set up a Terraria server, but I'd need someway to limit Boss spawning to triggered events, otherwise one or two faggots will try to clear the whole game by themselves.
Got anymore recomendations?
Pic for attention.

We did that a month ago, that's why there's only 8 of us now.

I've been playing EQ on the P1999 server. Its free and you can party with up to 6 people. Having lots of fun so far, and have even considered making a thread about it. You would probably want to make sure your healer/tank is the least likely to flake though.

I think it's gonna be pretty hard to get them to try another MMO.
A couple of them Play SWToR, and 2 play GW2. Not sure they'd change to a new one that easy. But I'll look into it, I haven't played Everquest in years and recently started thinking about it.

Aparently, a bunch of them already have it, only a couple don't.
I should be able to get a key for the rest. Problem is: none of us know what the fuck we're doing in that game. I think I'd end up as Gamemaster, since I'm the one putting this shit together. How the fuck does Arma multiplayer work? You just make up goals for them, and let them loose? Can you alter shit during a mission?
>>16853369
>DayZ
They tried it already. One got his kicks out of it, the rest were pretty bored. Fuck ton of time to meetup, and then there's fuck all to do.
>Rust
Grinding, and base building only serves to deter other players. And aparently, one of them run a private Conan server a few months ago, and that game is pretty much Rust, but with an actual art direction.
>Ark
See the problems with Rust. We did give it a go, and since half of them love Jurassic Park, they loved the Dinos (who doesn't) but again, no massive force assaulting your base = boredom after a few hours.
I don't think they're looking for PvP, unless it's between us all.
Last night they played a few rounds of Deceit, a shitty unfinished game that still works very well for a small group to dick around in Teamspeak with each other. The few times I got them into anything with other players, it didn't work that well. They just want something to play around with, not necessarily dedicate hours and git gud at it.

Try warthunder, the game has its flaws (grind, shameless bias, vehicle rating out the ass, grind, pay to win aspects, flawed mechanics of air battles, grind, etc.) but with a group it might be fun. Just don't give them any money.

Read about real-life operations and try to make missions that recreate them in game. Consider joining up with an organized milsim group, they usually have designated mission makers and GM's. If you're not a military autist, then you can look for co-op missions on armaholic.com, there's plenty of light-hearted stuff like cops and robbers, racing, antistasi or others. You can do what you want, get creative.

Triple posting, but fuck it, I get the ideas as I type.
Also try Warcraft 3, you can download it for free, don't buy reforged. There's hundreds if not thousands of maps like tower defense, farmer vs hunter, castle fight, MOBA stuff (the original defense of the ancients map) and much more. You can play it through LAN with Gameranger (which is a solid program for many other MP games too) or Eurobattlenet.

I've read the guide. Looks pretty robust, far more detail than I thought. I only saw editors like this for RTS games. I'll give it a try later on.
The only weapons these guys are fanatics for are muskets and ancient one's. I think I could get away with some goofy missions about rounding up Corona-infected civilians and the like.

You could all grind for a few days and be able to set up a pretty powerful base in Planetside 2. You can use it to call down orbital strikes and shit on the places where people are fighting. It can be tough to get started because the game does not ease you into it but having a group to play with is one of the main things that makes it easier. I can link some jewtube videos that helped me get started if you want. It's a pretty unique experience in gaming because it's all one massive war on each continent and higher level leadership basically becomes a 3 way RTS with real people fighting instead of AI units. There's a big patch coming out soon that is bringing a ton of people back in so the servers are very lively compared to what they were a while ago. Now is the best time in years to get into the game.

Frankly, just having a group of friends (not just known people) to consistently play with is probably better than watching a bunch of videos. Eight to ten reasonably competent FPS players ought to be able to work together in a team well enough to get shit done. If I had a group that size to consistently game with, Planetside 2 is exactly what I would be doing. I'm not even going to plug NC as the best faction even though it is.
