I don't have a proper term for it, but I have a hankering for games with high, heavy leaps. See pics related for examples. I have already played pics related to death and was wondering if there were any lesser known or indie titles (complete or not) that had just as crisp movement physics.

Obvious games are SMSS, Spiderman 2, for emulation, but I'm curious if anyone knows of any hidden gems that fill this void.

Please post whatever comes to mind, and I'm interested in hearing what anyone else considers enjoyable movement systems.

The Transformers High Moon series had really fucking good flying levels, albeit not very long. The Starscream levels in War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron were my favorite out of all of them. Only downside to the rest of the game in regards to the vehicle mode controls is that it is highly recommended you use a controller, as I've found especially in Fall of Cybertron you can't actually change or customize controls, meaning your stuck with using your mouse for steering when using a keyboard. Even so the ability to interchange between robot and vehicle mode in this game is the best I've seen in any Transformers game, and has a sense of fluidity that I really enjoyed despite occasional moments of jankiness.

Crackdown 1&2, though they're a bit 'light'.

Prototype 1&2 gliding up walls and slamming into floors fucking up the surroundings was nice.

I guess Path of Neo when getting into an extended fight, where you hit a flow of interlinking moves, it was rather satisfying battering people across the scene with huge poles.

Fight Night Round 3 on the treesiddy, thumbstick swings for punches and controller feedback worked well, I'd say better than a kb/mouse could, shit was genuinely tiring, local 1v1 was good fun, there was only one 'type' of troublesome AI in SP but you could grind them down. Shame Round 4 got mired in peripheral bullshit and felt like controlling a stiff action figure in comparison.

Say what you will about the demise of the series (3 was worse) but there was something to the taking flight and such in Saint's Row IV that could be used to decent effect in a better title.

Aliens vs predator was crap though. Also, I'm not sure what you mean by "crisp movements". But, if it means anything I did like payday 2s movements and though they were pretty precise.

Super Mario Odyssey, Vanquish.

He's probably talking about AvP 2000.

Are you fucking blind? Look at the OP

And 2000 had a grappling hook, not good jumping like AvP2.

best movement is just normal movement, I hate it that every failed piece of shit that tries to ape anything adds some stupid fucking roll move, no you stupid nigger, you cannot comprehend the simplicity of normal movement, either go all in get real fucking cuhrayzee with it or don't add some stupid fucking roll move that is roided with iframes.

He probably just googled AvP, 2000 and 3 have the same name. 2 also wasn't nearly as fast as 2000.

That Incredible Hulk game that came out for ps2 was pretty good. Lots of huge jumps, running around and smashing shit

Probably not what you were thinking but my all time favorite movement satisfaction is gained from skiing across a map in Tribes. I would enjoy your typical shitter sandbox game a lot more if you could traverse the world with that kind of movement. Maintaining high momentum and using your spacial awareness and quick decision making to retain it as you try to navigate various terrain features. The shield surfing in BOTW got close, but the fact that everything in the game is tediously tied to durability made it stop short since the shields wear out really fast when you use them like that. I was secretly hoping Anthem would have this when I saw the first trailer but we all know how that ended

Shitty though they may be, Borderlands 2 and 3 have good movement, though 3 feels a bit more slippery than 2, despite letting you grab ledges.

It depends on what kind of feel you want the game to have. Even though its not amazingly quick, the movement in SCPCB and Amnesia is a great example of good 1st person movement. Every step is heard and felt, and damage is directly tied to movement, where getting hurt in the leg gives a limp. It makes it much more immersive compared to other 1st person titles where you just slide around and damage is just a number in the corner of the screen.

For sidescrollers, Metroid Fusion still has the best speed/fluidity for a 2d title, with advanced techniques like shinesparking.

For movement that feels tight in 3d, no other game has beaten Super Mario 64. 1st person games haven't achieved their full potential yet, but some games have certainly tried (Mirrors edge comes to mind).

Since you haven't mentioned it, I suggest Prototype. Give a try with both, just keep in mind that the story is actually there in the first game while the second doesn't actually have a story, just better gameplay overall.

I'll also suggest Dark Void. It's the jetpack game that does it justice. Nothing too special in any other field, but it's basically what jetpacks should have ever be and Anthem couldn't even get that close.

>grappling hook

If we are talking about the game OP posted a thumbnail for, no it doesn't.

The Predator presses a button and sees a crosshair to where he will LEAP with some distance but mostly vertical movement.

It starts being wonky but once you get used to it (just press CTRL and click right after while aiming where you want to go) and you can move really fast.

It's kinda disapointing to go back to AvP2 and see how the Predator is just a human that jumps a bit higher and moves a bit faster.

Also the Alien in AvP 2000 was better than in AvP2. It's more stealth based with lighting manipulation instead of pounce spamming or tail stunning.

I still like AvP2 but the Alien levels in 2000 were a lot more fun.
