I recently went a found this title on the seven seas and I went in expecting this game to be a total shit heap, but what I found surprised me more it's average retardedly average. I mean it's not anything special or great but it's not in the "I want who ever coded this to McFucking kill themselves!" tier either.

It's about 20% of a game. The world map is huge and has a lot of different biomes that are used FOR NOTHING. There's a whole city/town with nothing to do in it. A rental if anything, but it's not engaging.
Horizon Zero Dawn is better in that respect, and keeps from becoming frustrating once you learn how to do absurd damage.

Well, what did you expect from a sequel that was trying to copy Borderlands 2? It was pretty much inline with how mediocre the first one was, just without the megatextures. I remember how disappointing the final battle for the first game was with just fighting a mob of enemies and a terrible ending that I skipped the sequel.

I played through it all, even stuck around to collect some shit afterwards. Why did I do this you ask, to try and form some sort of opinion since it didn't make any impression on me at all. After having digested the experience for a few weeks, I can say it's so fucking mediocre it's neither good nor bad. Some aspects are okay and some aspects are sub par. I don't think I've ever played a game more deserving of a strong, strong 5/10. It's the most mediocre shit I've ever played, I would never play it again and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone or perhaps as >>16852932, if you can't even muster the energy to shitpost or jank some rope then go ahead.
If there was one thing that could've at least made it enjoyable, it would be some fucking AI, as it is now your character becomes OP as fuck at about the 2 hour Mark and the AI can not cope, it's stupid and weak.

in theory, the entire landscape/background is literally one big fucking texture of 320000x320000 instead of 150 rock textures copied and pasted. The draw distance is determined by streaming the required length of texture to be loaded from the disk in chunks. In practice the screen looked like it was being pulled apart on my year old graphics card and kinda poopy HDD at the time, day one.

This, the gunplay was the only thing they clearly put somewhat more of an effort into.
The reason you need to get into melee range is because most of your superpowers and gadgets need you to anyway, and you need to use them all in fighting game-like combo attacks if you want to experience the combat as it was designed, I particularly liked chopping off enemy heads with the not-batarang after shooting off their helmet with the shotty. However I agree that the AI sucks and it almost feels like they were intentionally designed to make the player feel a false sense of superiority/gitting gud.
