I played FTL. I liked it. I only wish the ships were bigger, had more crew, showed civilian/non-combat related rooms and generally had more content. It was fun, despite the lack of deep game mechanics.
I played KeeperRL. Heard about it years ago. I expected an amazing amount of content, especially since it had been in development for a long time. Was quite disappointed, because after just a few hours I felt like I already experienced everything there was to it. Including adventurer mode. Dungeon Keeper had more content.
Also played Banished. Same problem. Extreme lack of content. Only 1 tier of ressource chain.
I cant bring myself to play RPGs with big storylines and exclusive choices anymore, either in character building or story. Couldnt get past the character creation screen in pathfinder kingmaker. That‘s why I am looking for either citybuilders or games you can start very quickly and over and over again.
Do you guys know any „Roguelike“-likes. Dont care if it‘s a pure roguelike. I want anything which … actually I dont know what the fuck I want. Nothing is fun anymore.

When you use the word "roguelike" in any fashion, you will either get shitposted on because you used it correctly, or you will get shat on because you used it incorrectly. In this case youve tried to skirt the issue and now you get shat on by both sides.
And yes, if you used the word "roguelite" you would still be shat on, but at least you would have used the correct word. And before you say LMAO semantics, yes. Semantics.

But I don't want to restrict myself to just games of the roguelike genre. Why would I use that term?
Roguelite has the same problem.
I want games, which I can play/start over and over again. And not be too restricted by like mutually exclusive storyline or rpg decisions. Like the block I experience, when I tried to create a spellblade type character in Pathfinder Kingmaker and discovered the Pathfinder System hates me for wanting to play such a type of character.

IGG takes isos and rips from scener websites and re-uploads them. In the past, years ago, people found those things in games they got from IGG. They seem to be more strict about it now, I've been using them for a few years and haven't had an issue.

Use a performance monitor (if you're on Linux open terminal and type top, if you're on winblows hit ctrl+shift+esc and go to the performance tab) then monitor your CPU usage/network usage while you're playing the game in question. If you see unreasonably high CPU usage or any network usage at all from a cracked program then you know it's a doing shady shit.

tales of maj'eyal is a roguelite with some pretty complicated gameplay
it can entertain you for hundreds of hours, and its main campaign can, depending on your class, take you a day to complete if you know exactly what the fuck you're doingwhich you won't for a long, long time, and also don't skip the optional dungeons
it has over 30 classes and over 10 races to choose from, most of them unlocked via. playing the main campaign, including 9 dlc/xpack classes 5 dlc/xpack races, and it also has an arena campaign and infinite dungeon campaign included with the base game, both unlocked via. the main campaign, as well as an xpack campaign that is several hours in length if you do the side dungeons
and and the base game is free; it is not P2W beyond the first 5 bucks, and all those 5 bucks do is let you transfer items between all characters that have beaten a certain mid-game boss, and unlock the donator class, which is a psychic bodysnatcher
if you buy the embers xpack, wait until the next patch when they nerf NPC annihilators
pic related is the levelup screen for just one of its many class

One thing about this game: it's almost totally combat. It's more of a NetHack than an Elona, although there's no food pressure: you're pushed to new areas by lack of things to kill rather than timers. In fact, pretty much every individual combat (as long as you have time to rest in between) is independent of every other one. There aren't many status effects or player stats that have persistence, although when they do they tend to be important for that character (stats that go up with momentum and that kind of thing). There's an awful lot of lore but really nothing in the way of dialog choices. Plenty of sperging about stats and loot, and inventory management is extremely simplified compared to the rest of the genre (which is kind of a blessing). There are, though, areas that any given character might randomly not be able to access, but that can be modded away.

this is not due to a bug
they're bonus zones, all of which are optional dungeons

Who said it was a bug? It's stupid game design to randomly deny areas to characters in a roguelike. We're not talking about event zones, or the alternate zones. Those are a little janky but fine. Thankfully the game's mod friendly and you can fix bad developer decisions.

How big of a nerf are we talking about here? i havent played in a long time but iirc martial arts was the skill where you do shit damage for the first 40 levels but leveling it enough you start doing multiple hits per turn and if you made it really far you would be doing 80+ hits per turn due to it scaling endlessly and having no cap. That was pretty balanced already, if you made it that far you earned it

Not sure which version that is but you have a max number of 8 hits per turn with MA depending on your chance for an extra melee attack. Never actually played past 1.88 because I play plus custom g and the people behind it stopped updating it after 1.90 but apparently its a significant nerf, something like 40%. My character has 1000 martial arts, tactics and eye of mind and does 60-70k damage per hit and 230-250k crit damage.

The problem is that the rampant balancing reduces the incentive to train anything except melee or magic. Violent Garden was the most infamous example. It let you invest your character more into Farming than combat skills because it's damage ran directly off of Farming.

anything that lets you keep anything between playthroughs or unlocks better stuff for the future is automatically mobile-tier. cute pixelshit is also to be frowned upon. I wish the concept of randomization in action games had caught on back when video games were still good.

>No one posted Streets of Rogue yet
Streets of Rogue is great, it feels like an infiltration simulator crossed with postal where every level is its own sandbox map. I love how different the playstyles of different characters are.
I play soldier with a lot of killing, trying to focus on staying accurate, keeping resources and trying to take targets as effectivelly as possible.
Playing Barman feels like playing an almost James Bond-type character where you have to go around, manipulate people to your cause, sneak around and kill only when necessary, it's great.
Comedian is the same but more RNG based but easier. And then you have something like the fucking zombie, which actually makes you feel like you're recreating an actual zombie pandemic with everything you do.
The only problem is that the game has a reddit-tier sense of humor, but if you can look past that it is really fun.
