>no fast-paced melee based FPS as a Black Templar ripping and tearing his way across a daemon world
>no full-autismo Steel Battalion style game where you pilot a Imperial Knight with a fucking massive controller

All we get is cheap crap farmed out to third-rate developers. 40k is the epitome of wasted potential, it pisses me off every time I think about it.

Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. It couples well with a keyboard, and has enough buttons on the stick and a hat switch. It is a common stick, and so well supported. Not too pricey either ($40). Mine has endured extensive use with no noticeable issues.

We are talking about planes that only work because the orks believe they work. Without this WAAAGH energy they are build in such a way they should fall apart the moment you start the engine, let alone fly. Also part of me wants to believe the engine is just 3 buckets welded together with the words ZOOOOM! painted on it.

Isn't the lore that it kinda "works" in the sense that all the right parts are technically there but would never actually work without the ork magic.
Like the drive belt is there but it was an old piece of cloth a grot found, tied the two ends to make it a loop and threw it on.

>>16852896
I don't think the lore requires that it needs to be possible, only that orks believe in it.
One story in particular I remenber was some Imperial Guardsmen that managed to actually kill an ork warlod in hand to hand combat. Such irregular display of skill (read: sheer blind luck since it was mostly the ork falling on his weapon) suddendly convinced the nearby orks that this IG was incredibly strong and would kill them all. So they stood where they were as he killed them all, because that's exactly what they believed was going to happen.
Even better, when fame of this IG reached the orks that joined the fray, even after the IG sustained mortal injuries, he kept on fighting and killing orks. Not because his wounds weren't that great or he was that tough, but because the orks literally believed he wasn't capable of dying and would kill them all. He died once there was no ork magic to keep him alive, but still.

TODAY I'LL REMIND THEM
Dawn of War 3 is just Rise of Legends with 40K as it's themes.
You have two resources that you gain passively.
You have refund mechanics to offset losses.
You have 3 heroes you can recruit that have passive abilities to improve your army as well as active abilities.
You have a "nation power" that lets you shift the tide of battle.
You have base building but you also have a central structure that you have to protect at all times or you lose the game (your capital in RoL or the sphere-thingy in DoW3)
Your resources come mostly from taking over important locations around the map that you have to fight for.
One of the factions relies on infantry and mechanized units with a heavily militaristic theme (DaVinci, Space Marines)
Another faction relies on strong, fast attacks and building structures in the oponent's turf (Orks, Alin)
Another faction relies on stealth and it's units have a shield to protect them from some damage (Eldar, Cuothl)
Notable differences are that RoL has regions that expand from cities and attrition damage, you have the oportunity to decide where your capital is, the refund mechanics aren't that developed\artificial.
Other than that, DoW3 is essentially Rise of Warhammer.
I say this because DoW3 ain't necessarily a bad game. It's a bad portrayal of W40K and it's a terrible successor to it's previous iterations considering how wildly different it is from that. But if it was it's own IP, there wouldn't be so much complaining since it's just the sequel to RoL that nobody was expecting.
If you're still upset that I'm saying DoW3 isn't a bad game, consider this than: They ruined not just the successor to the DoW franchise but also whatever sucessor there could have been to RoL. Neat, uh?
I just wanted my Nekron expansion that they teased in the end of the game and they couldn't even keep the balance of the game okay-ish until then. Fucking eldar snipers killed the game harder than any comparison to DOTA.

That IG story sounds like bollocks. Was likely written by someone from the Black Library with no credibility like that Irish fuck.
Ork 'magic' does exist and it does work but only to an extent. You can't have just a looted leman russ with its engine taken out and then have the Orks 'believe' it will work. It still will not run. Typical applications of Ork magic are: Orks getting bigger and tougher with each battle they survive, getting jammed weapons to fire, making bigger orks tougher to kill, certain paints giving certain properties, and a WAAAAAGH! making Orks much more resilient and generally all-around killier.
You may also see certain mekboys accomplish near miracles (uncertain if the lore reason is that their 'magic' covers the gaps or if they actually do something right out of sheer dumb luck) like getting space hulks to function as space ships or missiles to fire or targeting systems to work or thrusters to go off when you push da big red button.

Yea its unclear whether ork technology is rooted on principles and knowledge they were programmed with by their creators, manifesting in certain wierdboyz, or just bullshit green magic, probably something in between, but WH40k isn't very good on consistent science or logic especially when it comes to astrophysics or ranged combat.

Well it has to look convincing for the orks to believe it'll work and not just the cannon fodder boiz, even the meks and grots that help the meks need to believe that gargant wont simply collapse under it's own weight while blowing all the generators and void shields.
