Last Year (terrible name) is an asymmetric horror mutiplayer game, like Friday the 13th and Dead by Daylight, it was free weekend and some people tried it, the game is not quite great but apparently being "way better than DBD" is enough to have a brigade of people defend it.
Oh, it also has premium currency, but that's OK because "it is only cosmetics" despite premium currency being usually a herald of worse things to come.

Bad game goes on free weekend, people give negative feedback (even some long time players), loyal fanboys defend it and even say you should buy it if you think the game is not going to last after free weekend.
On a small note, this game got a hotfix just 24 hours after it went on free weekend which consisted of nerfs to the killer class and buffs to the survivor class which would give players going survivor a way easier time against the killer (in a 1v5 game to boot).

I'm all for diversity but if you want to break into a market dominated by one game already you have to make the effort. That said, beb by daylight has had 4 years by now, this shit whatever it is has had barely more than a year.
