Why has this moderately successful indie title never made its way to the PC gaming platform?

Likely because it's not as easy for those of room temperature IQ to pirate console games? I mean, it takes the ability to read, and to carefully follow instructions, in order to install a mod chip, or to softmod a console. Not as easy as "download game, double click, mash enter".

It generally also prevents you from playing games legally in the future, which is not the case with the PC.

It requires room temperature IQ to buy consoles, and by and large video games to begin with. But that's not a reason for developers to not publish their games.

Because there are literally thousands of similar games done 100x better which already exist for PC. There simply isn't a market for it.

>implying that's even a defense of anything
Anon simply stated a potential reason to not put shit on PC. Companies and devs fear piracy, whether justifiably or not. It's entirely possible that the dev of this just thought "it's not worth the time and effort of putting in on PC as no one will buy it on Steam, instead pirating it, so why waste my time?" or something to that effect.
Saying "piracy is very easy on PC therefore devs might see that as a reason to not put their games on PC" is not a defense of consoles or the devs, it's just stating a fact.

Likely bought exclusivity. Also it's a golf game with putting mechanics so awful chip ins are easier than putting.

If I was a publisher or developer I'd never release games on the PC for this reason. It's fucking stupid to invest a lot of time/money into the pirate system. Might as well burn your money, that way you get some heat at least.

How does it play exactly? The bit of footage I recall, it seemed like you were going up against something like pokemon trainers and mainly increasing stats. Much more to it than that?

No, not really.
It doesn't even warrant a console tbh. It was almost simple enough to be playable on a 1980's digital watch.

I think that is his point, Einstein. They are 3D golf RPGs. The fact is that the ultimate issue here is called "immersion", and PCs will always do that better than consoles, more cheaply and with better user control. That means 2D golf games with crappy mechanics will see no improvement on a PC and therefore it would be a waste to bother making a PC version. Golf gaming is a great illustration of why PCs are a superior platform, as it turns out. Golf is fucking boring as hell IMO, but the genre does illustrate each facet of the "PC is better" argument very well.

But they aren't 3D golf RPGs. At least I'm pretty sure you don't walk around completing quests, finding secrets, talking to people, playing various minigames related to golf, and in general following a storyline in them.
I'm talking about RPGs here, not "games with RPG elements" like people call anything with even a slight stats system. I'm talking Final Fantasy here.

I realize that it's just a replacement for a battle system but do you gain anything but stats? Clubs, sick golf pants, anything.

That's something, missed opportunity on no golf fashion though. I'd probably play it, generally interested in RPGs with more skill-based battle systems.

These three if you count emulation (Battle Golf Yui has an English patch). Then again, Yuzu might run Golf Story, I'm not sure. Though in my examples, the main gameplay is still rounds of golf, and not quite how Golf Story does it. I have a hacked Switch, so I'm not desperate for PC ports.

Then you explain your reasoning as to why fuck all comes to PC anymore. I only base my conjecture on conversations I've had with developers from 1996 through 2018. The publishers think piracy is AIDS to the bottom line, regardless of how little of a real effect it has on sales, and the relative difficulty of console piracy just sweetens the pot for them.
But please, prove you're not a contrarian faggot, and enlighten us with your educated opinion.

It was fun for an indie game. The writing was hit-or-miss and it had decent minigames and side content from what I remember. But one big gripe that i do remember is how irrationally inconsistent putting was. When you putt there's no reliable way to tell how far the ball goes or how much it's affected by slopes, so chipping it in, even from what should be easy putting distance, is always easier.

Yuzu does run Golf Story, just that my PC was a mid-tier a decade ago so it runs it at 80% so unplayable.
GS is not quite the same as Mario Golf however. GS is rather unique as far as I'm aware.

I can name maybe two franchises that aren't on PC. Kingdom Hearts and Persona. Developers don't really have a say in these things, it's publishers that do the publishing so your talks with the devs don't amount to much. What are you on about when you claim that nothing makes its way to PC? Even shitty unfinished uninspired 3ds games do. Buying consoles is for idiots.
