Does this game have a bit of a slow start or is that more or less the pace of the game? None of the things I’m going to list are bad mind you, but I’m not personally fond of them so if that’s the whole game I’m thinking about putting it back on the backlog until I’m more in the mood for this sort of game:

>battles are slow paced and long

>attack rng feels like something out of the new XCOM games

>attack damage feels like practically nothing if you aren’t using a sniper or tank making the already long battles drag on a bit

Also, if somebody has a video of somebody actually good playing a level so I can see if I’m just approaching the game wrong I’d appreciate you posting it.

>battles are slow paced and long

That's been what VC is on consoles when you don't or can't scout rush. The PSP games did this better due to the small maps which makes moving snipers or lancers less of a slog since you can just pull out whatever tool you need then put it back at a camp no more than one or two turns away. Early game just focus on scouts, but about midway you'll need to upgrade the other guys. You may have to run through some skirmishes for extra cash and xp

>attack rng feels like something out of the new XCOM games

Generally you aim for the neck area when using anything that isn't a sniper. If you mean those flat chested super sluts then you need to inject your favorite shock trooper with special order roids like you're trying to make a new gigga nigga so he can just power through damage and drop thier dodge chance to almost zero while dealing double damage with pin point accuracy.

>attack damage feels like practically nothing if you aren’t using a sniper or tank making the already long battles drag on a bit

If it isn't a head/neck shot then don't take it. Get closer so the cone of fire is filled up with their head, neck, or upper chest to get as many shots to connect. Once you start upgrading mortars bring an extra mortar with anti infantry gear especially once the elites start showing up. And again buy those special orders since in some situations you'll just want to walk up and murder a particularly annoying nigger with your own roided out crack nigger.

Sounds like I need to be playing way more aggressively, which makes sense. At the moment I’ve been trying to keep all my units safe and away from enemy fire, but considering the damage my units can take vs the enemy I should be trying to rush them into the enemies a bit more.

Also, I appreciate all the tips. I’m gonna give it another go.

There are two things that drastically improve the ability to play aggressively that I forget when they are unlocked.

Special orders. Able to use three units at once, moving and attacking as one. And the APC. Which means dropping infantry in the right places.

Proper positioning is key, because while you might feel one unit is underpowered, when they work together, and able to return fire all together, it is a different story.

The only classes ever got annoyed with and save scummed because of the RNG really was tanks not taking out their targets, and lancers fucking up point blank.

The side stories however really do help get into treating the classes right. Scouts are supposed to bum rush, and set up ambushes. Infantry work together, with bonuses. Some are able to weather damage better then others.

And the obvious, don't forget to look at equipment and layout.

Not really numbers but rather what tool is used where. So don't always deploy everybody at the beginning, just deploy the leaders that give point bonuses and pull out whatever you need at the bases you capture (if you even need to pull extras out or maybe pushing one guy further and further will be easier/faster), it would be annoying to have to recall a needed guy (like a lancer or engineer) wasting a point and then having to redeploy him elsewhere wasting another point when you could have just sent a scout to capture a further base and using one point to pull him out.

Best example is on one of the later levels involving a global attack that rapes anything not in cover. But the magic nigger casting it is hidden behind 70 gorillion goons. One route is to go along an open area with your tank so that it can get triple dicked by enemy armor and anti armor but there's only a handful really, with careful fighting you can make it pass them all. Or through a no vehicle access winding path of bullshit with close quarters areas, mortars, sneaky fucks hidden just around the corner, and mines everywhere.

The correct answer is to make a single gigga nigga run through the bullshit path by using up tons of command points and having him push through the pain (keep using him even if his movement bar has dwindled to only a few feet a turn, hopefully you made him a leader so you can pop off the lead ability extending his movement), slaughtering everything in the way, walk him up to magic faggot and unload everything ending the level in less than about 3 turns. It looks like a major battle needing everybody you can pull up to fight but in reality you just need the leaders for their points, one sniper (one of which is already a leader) and maybe an apc to drop off gigga nigga just a little closer to his rape spree.

this is SO much better now. I was playing it super defensively and not taking shots unless I had cover but now I actually see why people like this game. Dodging enemy fire and finding an opening to take your shot all while being timed is a unique sort of fun. I really appreciate you taking the time to save this game for me.

Also, your neck shot tip is already saving me from a ton of grief.

VC is a game series that looks like a turnbased startegy game set in a fictional fantastical version of WW2. The truth is that it's actually a puzzle game at first then after a few hours of progression a deck building game where you try to find the right combos to stack effects and bull rush through it all, and it's setting is more like African warlords feeding their child soldiers brown brown to increase their savagery and pull off feats of amazing danger and stupidity that you wouldn't do under normal circumstances.

sage for double posting
