Not only a high chance to repeat the five hundred ninety nine mistake, current rumors look like the spec upgrade will be lower for the full generation jump than it was for the midgen upgrades: Just a little over double the GPU power, less than doubled RAM, only CPU comes close to a normal generation jump with doubled IPC plus about 50% higher clock for 3x perf per thread with double the threads for at best 6x overall power if everything scales perfectly - which it won't.

The marketing clowns will have to scream themselves hoarse about the 2 buzzwords SSD and raytracing, that's honestly all they have and both are part old news, been there, done that, and barely noticeable at the given performance level when compared to tried and true techniques on the old midgen upgrades. I think this is a result of an idea of 10-15 years ago, starting with the PS2. The PS2 demolished in sells for a lot of reasons, one of them being able to play DVDs. This is one of the main things that pushed for the whole "Multimedia" shit, and in the next generation most consoles had that options.

Right now, though, you can have something like that in a fucking USB stick, so it doesn't make sense to buy a console for +300$ just to stream netflix when you can get a 20 something stick and do it from your TV. At this point I think that focusing on games should be the way to go. It'd be niche, sure, but doesn't make sense to go multimedia in consoles at this point.

I'll give points that PC has good to serviceable ports in the past years unlike the rushjobs from before, and there are some PC titles as well Out of Hell is good but I would not rely on the remake for now since there is no clear release date yet but I'm certainly not seeing in recent titles what made PC great on its own in the past like the RTS games (Stronghold, Total Annihilation, Warcraft 3), point-and-click (Sierra games etc), stealth (the early Thief, Splinter Cell & Hitman Hitman 2 seemed interesting but the user reports of the game being online-only repelled me) and other various shit like Morrowind, Mafia, Magic Shandalar, etc

Yakuza Zero would often freeze for a few seconds on my PC despite it ran at 60fps otherwise probably the i5 Haswell CPU being too loaded (Kiwami 2 on the other hand didnt have that problem) and it was showing its age on some late ports hence why I decided to upgrade. I have a 1080p monitor, but a 4K TV.. which I like to kick back on the bed and game with occasionally. The Vega does some new games at 4K fairly well (Far Cry 5 and Forza 7, surprisingly). Anything made before 2014-ish can easily get 60fps. With FreeSync it's less noticable when Far Cry or something drops to 50 from time to time. All in all, I'm already happy, but I'd prefer a reliable 70fps, especially on new games. Maybe the 2080 does this? Not sure. You have to pay an arm and a leg for it anyhow, so it's best if I wait.
