It's best played with multiple people. There's a huge amount of enemy variety in both dlcs, and when there isn't, it's a swarm of red hornets / gold ants / silver spiders, so being able to cover for each other instead of being bottlenecked into a loadout that can handle everything makes things much smoother.

yes, type 1 drones are easy to shoot down as long as you're not using a multi-hit weapon. Wait for them to turn at you as they're about to fire, then shoot them, and they will sit still for you and flop around too much to actually hit you

Went and cleared the offline version with this loadout adhering to the online weapon limit and 2000 armor since my ranks are maxed. Online armor limit is 5234. It's likely possible to do it with lower armor if you keep the soldiers you spawn with alive so they can soak lasers. Was using a controller set to 110 rotation speed.
Blasthole was to blow up drones that flew close or cosmonauts in jumping distance. Dexter was purely to tag anything flying overhead that was far enough away from the other enemies. Dual Handcannons melt Deroys, bomber drones, and imperial drones before they can do much.
