Might get people to start going full R&D for solutions to make up for it. We need industries to focus on development to advance technology past our current rate or society's going to stagnate where we are, not a good place to be.
We need vast improvements to medicine, entertainment, agriculture, technological solutions, automation and public knowledge. We need kids in 3rd grade easily solving calculus level problems, we need vast improvements to education for the lowest inner cities, we need social divides based on every possible line mended and solved. We need the average relative wages and wealth in 3rd world countries. The condition of the environment determine the quality of society.
There's this playful series of groups of crested black macaque monkeys that live in Indonesia, who essentially live in a completely peaceful and bountiful environment. There's no reason to fight since food is plentiful and the population of monkeys is large, so they mostly communicate peacefully and don't need to fight over females. They're some of the most affectionate monkeys in the world, and like to hug eachother all the time, platonically. What makes them special is that the environment they've grown up in is so bountiful and peaceful, that over the generations they've EVOLVED into an especially affectionate and kind bunch of monkeys, but when deprived of that environment they do end up being close to aggressive regardless, if only less so, to fulfill their basic needs.
I feel that the nature of man is also not entirely individualistic and that most are determined by their environment and conditions they were raised in. No matter the cost, we must find a way to use this to advance the conditions of all of humanity. Because even though advancement enables aspects of degeneracy, it allows people to do the most good as well.
