I urge you to get some perspective. This fuckup retroactively fucks up a previous and actually good game so that it can't be played correctly any longer barring careful non-updating or whatever. No individual game bombing can be as bad as that from a game player's standpoint rather than a dollars standpoint. I don't play or even really care about RTS, but I care about this. It's almost as if Bethesda's Doom update with account logins and whatever broke all the open-source Doom ports–sure, I admit that it's not quite that bad, but what if Doom had never been open sourced? And, sure, this isn't some shiny new MMO or developer-hosted FPS being shut down two years in and the player base frowning, because yeah WC3 is a fairly old game. Even given all that, this is the kind of developer malfeasance horror scenario that tin-hats have been worrying about since digital distribution became the done thing. This is like a publisher updating your digital copy of Fahrenheit 451 with a revised edition where Montag's a gay black dude who finds a copy of Das Kapital and deflects the nukes with his newfound Red Power. Doom Eternal would have to erase Zandronium from your hard drive on purchase to top this one.

I think you're right. Warcraft 3 was considered an almost perfect game, and Blizzard have managed to not only ruin the new version but retroactively fuck people who owned the previous version.
To fuck up on this scale and still beat Blizzard's attempt would require someone like Nintendo releasing a broken remake of a Zelda game that simultaneously fucks with the lore making 90% of the other games, from a story standpoint, completely pointless.

We're far beyond the days where every new patch was indisputably better than the previous one (barring breaking compatibility with older systems or whatever) now that we're in the days where new content is a regular and almost expected thing when patches drop. We're also beyond the days when it was normal for devs to keep every patch version hanging around–although that was more due to laziness than any genuine desire on their part to allow gamers to patch to any version they wanted.

In every way possible. It's a broken mess all around, but my favourite one is that they wrote the game UI in javascript. You know, just the menu with the buttons to choose whether to play the campaign or online. So when you launch the game it launches the warcraft3.exe just like you'd expect, but on top of that it also launches a "BlizzardBrowser" that's basically a fork of Chrome and these blizzardbrowser.exe processes that are running the menu are more demanding on your CPU and takes more RAM than the actual fucking warcraft3.exe. It's just so stupid. How did they even manage to be this incompetent? It's surreal.
Oh and of course nobody even plays with the "Reforged" grapics. They just use the old graphics. Their old 3gb game that worked fine turned into a 30gb buggy mess of a game. It's an unfinished product and feels like an open beta with missing features but they were forced to release it now as promised because of the preorders.

Fallout 76 is far from actual failure. It didn't sell that much? No worries, it cost a dime and half to make since it was outsourced! Even 10 guys lapping up every "timed exclusive skin" on the cashop will make it turn a profit. Now count the hundreds of retards paying for private serrvers and the thousand 15 year olds paying to get nukes faster so they can NUCLEAR EPIC DAB on other EPIC GAMERS like their favorite paid-streamer.
You know what I did? I took the 60$ I was gonna put up to play a multiplayer Fallout with my friends and spent it on close to 20 diferent games. I've only finished 12 of those since F76 launched, and I'm having a fuck ton of fun with them.
