DXM is coming to steam pretty soon. I know it's baby's first armored core but the mechs look so nice. Lets hope they allow cross play because god knows multiplayer is gonna be dead on arrival and it's already pretty dead on switch.

I wouldn't use mediocre. It's not fantastic in the least but it's fun. Has plenty of stats autism and customization and weapons options.

Worst thing about the game is the frame rate and the story kinda drags on a bit. For some reason they have fully voiced cutscenes at the start of missions followed up by lengthy text conversations that are also voiced. That's most my major complaints though.

Just fucking port the AC series to PC already, and do it without fucking up the port. I know that ports aren't trivial but the assets are all there already, and there are no mech games. Certainly there aren't THAT few mech game players that it wouldn't sell. The AC games were fun even with terrible, hamfisted gamepad controls.

Ehhhh, customization is exclusively limited to the character's face and all the characters wear a really thick, body suit-thing. There's free DLC for anime and game tie ins, but Switch only got the Witcher one where you could dress up as Geralt or Ciri. Japan got like a Macross and Eureka 7 crossover outfits and mech-color schemes, but otherwise you're stuck with the default outfit.

Pic related is the outfit. There's DLC for most the hairstyles that side characters have, but otherwise they're all made with the same character creator by the looks of it. It's not really character focused. The story hops around with different characters. Pretty much it's a "Day in the life" of a rookie working on missions with a shitton of mercenary groups that all have various kinds of rivalry with each other. One mission might have you fighting some obvious villain-bait characters and the next you're fighting them, and sometimes you're working with these incredibly goody two shoes type of guy and the next he's threatening to kill you for getting in the way of his paycheck.

There's an over arching plot but I'm about halfway into the game and it barely involves your player character at all, which could change since they're pretty obvious "CHOSEN ONE!" allusions towards him.

You can pretend she's ripped underneath it.

Also, forgot to mention, one of the game mechanics continually replace parts of your character with mechanical parts, including parts of your character's face and pretty much all their limbs. So even if you do make a cute character, you're gonna butcher that face for some stat boosts anyway.

I don't wanna say it's basic, but it's really just an entry level Armored Core game. It has stat autism and mech design but the stats don't go nearly as in depth as Armored Core does and the mech customization is restricted to head, body, left arm, right arm, and legs. You can have weapons in both your left and right hand as well as a backup weapon for left or right pylons, and there is a single shoulder weapon, and an auxillery thing that acts more for support. Weapons themselves are split into handguns (Single shot but high damage), Assault Guns (Quick burst, more focused on mid range, moderate damage), Machien Guns (Constant bullet spewing, low damage, wide spread), shotguns (It's a shotgun, also note this game has no hitscan in it and the bullets don't travel that fast so it's more close range than anything), shields, and Melee weapons (which act weird, because there isn't melee combos in the game you lunge forward and do a shitton of damage to whatever you're locked onto), and various other odd weapons like Bazookas, flamethrowers. It's got missile launchers but they're shoulder weapon exclusives.

It's definitely got stats though. Weight, speed, health, stamina, acceleration speed, landing lag, liftoff lag, speed duration, ground speed, flight speed some stat that I'm forgetting the name of that helps with bullet spread, burn resist, stun resist, and all that.

It's made by a bunch of former AC devs so it makes sense. It's really just a basic Armored Core game. I'd be incredibly interested in sequels of it and seeing if they can make it more complex though, so I'd definitely be interested in it succeeding.

Its an insult to compare DXM to AC. DXM hints at career and financial simulation but ammo and repairs don't cost anything substantial in DXM, unlike in AC. DXM makes it seem like you can choose missions from the factions but its a linear story and you do all the missions for everyone to advance the plot, you don't pick a corporation and stick with them for the gear or exclusive missions. Each corporation is split almost cleanly along weight class lines, one for light frames, one for medium frames, and one for heavy frames, lazy way to go for differentiation, and near the end you even do the same stage four times with a different boss each time. The game is also loaded with microtransactions, each NPC has unique customization options applied to them that you have to pay to unlock. Want to wear a hat? $1.99 please.

You can tell they wanted to do a game more closely like AC but ran out of time, money, or effort and just decided to dumb it down into a simplistic mech-based, "story" driven third-person aerial shooter. -t. played it on switch when it was marketed as exclusive.

The mechs are alright but the sandbox is lacking, and the stats only matter in so much as how fast you are, how tanky you are, or what kind of weapons you're best built to use. Furthermore, taking on "skills" replaces a part of your body with cybernetic parts every few tiers of skills you go up which reduces your customization options. And the end with all cybernetic upgrades/skills unlocked the only part of your character you can see is the plugsuit and your chin.
