>no longer bing bing wahoo exclusive

here's my overall thoughts about the game since the last daemon thread a while back was mostly dead

>the game is easy enough that if you build your mech for speed the game can actually be somewhat enjoyable

>ammo problems, so you're stuck using the melee swords and assault rifles

>ranged weapons are for the most part, very satisifying to use until you run out of ammo, shoulder weapons also deal with the same problem

>the gyroscope on the switch was handled perfectly as you can use the right analog stick as well to aim vertically unlike a certain nintendo game

>melee combat feels off in general, it's not fluid at all

>you have to eat ice cream multiple times to unlock the secret shop that most anons didn't know about, which requires play on the 'multiplayer' aspect of the game (can be played alone)

>good music in general

>the characters are very one note and braindead, a team that has a snake logo and named ouroboros reveals themselves as a group of freaks that can't die without some dumb tower, criminal 'mastermind' brother that fails to be smart. to some retarded girl that is evil but does what she's told and another retarded girl that wants to die. but johnny G has good intentions, so he's not bad

>the overall decent voice acting along with the awful dialogue just makes these characters worse, especially when some side character dies and it's suppose to be some kind a huge event but ends up falling flat due to how fucking gay it is

>the plot drops certain key elements and never refers to them again, see the prototype mech that only used katanas, never to be seen or mentioned again

>also an ending of a game that I couldn't really grasp, I'm not too sure what it was but whatever it was, It was retarded

>the menu is also ass and requires a lot of navigation as each part you want to research has dependency hell all over

I think the gameplay can be 'fine', if the melee combat and the ammo was addressed (I think they did update the game but I'm not too sure) but the game has come a long way as it improved from it's earlier demos before release.

Fucking sweet this game is a pretty decent void for the hole Armored Core created in my chest.

Shame it's still at full price so I'll probably get it later on a sale and pirate it first just to see how much better it runs.

I dropped the game after the new missions that were added because the game ran fucking terrible so this is very good news.

What is the point of even buying a game console anymore?

The only thing I can think of is so that you have a physical copy of the game, but that is it, and even that is being made mute with every box having a download code instead of a cartridge or disk of the game.

Just pirate, it's a DRM free copy with unlimited backups and you can burn it wherever you want, USBs, DVDs, Blurays, HDDs.

Not like physical copies have the goodies of years past unless you buy some sort of extremely expensive limited edition.

The only console that might even be worth a dick is the Switch and even then it's a Nintendo branded Nvidia Tegra tablet.

But no matter where you play your vidya on, at least you can find solace on the fact that you're not a mobilenigger.

Don't bet on it, it depends on their shitty programming tools and engine. All it takes is something simple like the launcher being compiled on 8.1 or 10 and it'll shit itself in search of Kernel32.dll functions that don't exist in 7, despite the game not actually needing them. It's a coin toss whether they give enough of a shit.

The game itself feels a bit unpolished/cheap in certain aspects (IE no cinematic intro/proper introduction) and I'll trust the AC fanbase claiming that this game is but a cheap imitation, having said that this game is inherently more fun to play. I don't think I'll keep the Jap audio on though since it's probably going to be too difficult to focus on the subtitles and game at the same time. This was a pleasant surprise after NMH and OT turned out to be boring. Is there a way to make the game look a bit better? There's aliasing artifacts and all that jazz.

Spent the first day fucking around only to realize Win7 isn't supported by the Mobo she got and not only would her keyboard not work, the usb-drive with the windows installation wouldn't show up. I do believe there was a workaround that required you use a CD-drive instead.

Next came fucking around with different Win10 versions, because they just wouldn't recognize her new graphics card.

All in all I spent three days troubleshooting that piece of shit. I am dreading having to upgrade mine eventually. If Bannerlord runs acceptably on a gtx770 and i5 4670 then I can at least drag it out for another year or two.

Game is like 12 GB's and runs incredibly well. just download it and try it out for yourself anon.

I'm not sure what the other anons might be complaining about, sure it doesn't have a decade over of customization options builded up from previous games but it's a good starting amount.

The only big downside from it is that the story is an incomplete mess, there's some decent characters but the story literally goes fucking nowhere, I recommend skipping every single cutscene in order to focus on blowing niggers up.

It's slower than AC4A if you ever played it but it's still very fast, you can upgrade yourself to get access to an ability called Blink and after that the game almost becomes Zone of The Enders in terms of speed.

Another complaint that I used to have, besides the obvious terrible performance on the Switch, was that some enemy pilots were just way too quick to keep up with the Switch's controls, but now it's on pc and I can use Mouse and Keyboard so it became a non-issue.

The shift in platform made this game go from mediocrity to a very solid product in my eyes. It's definitely overpriced so I wouldn't recommend buying it but with it's incredibly low file size I believe it's worth at least a pirate.

The OST is also pretty fucking good.

>the combat is repetitive

That's like saying Doom is bad for being repetitive.

>customization is lacking

It doesn't have as much as 2nd and 3rd gen AC yes, but I'm calling bullshit on the lacking department.

I've been running this shit online and I have yet to see anyone else running the same builds, and I've been able to make pretty different and functional builds for different purposes. I really can't call it lacking when I keep seeing different designs every time I play online.

I feel like you didn't beat rank D and just took a general look after unlocking the factory and didn't bother.

My only big gripe with the customization is that there's only bipedal lower body types. I really hope they add more types in the sequel such as spider legs.

Not to mention you can also customize your own pilot giving you different skills for both you and your arsenal.

The story is shit and it's definitely intrusive, if you dropped it because of it then It's completely understandable however I really don't see the rest of your complaints.

Otherwise combat is "repetitive" because there's no difference in how you fight any of the enemies in single player save MAYBE bosses. You have full screen auto-aim and the vast majority of weapons shoot almost identical projectiles, so combat comes down to "look in their general direction and hold shoot". Little different with melee, but that instead boils down to "get close to them, look in their general direction and mash shoot", plus mashing F for clashes.

Customization is likewise lacking because the guns all feel pretty much the same. As far as I can tell the "damage" value doesn't mean jack shit so it's extremely hard to compare how effective the various extremely samey guns are, and anything that deviates from the sameness ends up being nearly useless.

Yes, other weapons exist. A lot of them if you try to get into the details. Shotguns, beam-lasers, stun beams, shoulder missiles, grenades, mines, flamethrowers. Most of it ends up being trash next to the starting fucking assault rifle. Standard laser rifles are useful against certain enemies (not types, certain characters) due to damage weakness/resistances, but they feel exactly the same to shoot. I also found that the bazooka arms were quite effective at dealing with giant bosses. Melee is usable but not really recommended.

Armor customization never feels like it does anything at all, aside from the HP value which is clearly visible. I mostly went for speed (both attack and movement) there but I couldn't really tell the difference.

Also I cleared 100% of the missions/side missions. I pirated the game so I can't touch anything that requires making a server (just gives me an error if I try).

I played an hour and while it's a bit on the easy side so far, I really like it.(although the only AC I've played was I think, Phantasma on the PSX)

The movement could stand to be a bit faster since the earlier missions(finished like 5 main missions and two free missions) are fairly lax with enemy numbers and I had hoped melee would be a bit more fluid, but everything else fits like a glove and I've enjoyed myself greatly. I might want to emulate the AC games now, should I go from the start of the series or the PS2 games?

>You have full screen auto-aim

You mean the reticle that has been a staple of AC since forever? Guess all AC games are bad then.

Different head pieces give different reticles, some are vertical others horizontal and some like the starting one are right down the middle and pretty small, there's even smaller ones that focus more on fast lock-on time.

It works pretty much the same as in AC games.

>the guns all feel pretty much the same

>Most of it ends up being trash next to the starting fucking assault rifle

Nigger what the fuck are you doing the starting rifle sucks ass.

And no you can clearly tell the difference between types.

Sniper rifles are designed for you to actually be a sniper and stay far away to deal big damage because they have a critical distance.

SMGs are great for close range but drop off from medium while Assault rifles are good at mid and close ranges but have less damage potential and low fire rates.

Shotguns dominate anything close quarters and specially bigger enemies.

And even melee weapons have around 4 different categories with different properties.

I could go on and even talk about the difference in shoulder weapons but I think I made by point.

>Armor customization never feels like it does anything at all

Considering you missed the entire point of the reticle and how there's many different types depending on your head piece I'm not surprised honestly. They affect your stamina regen, stamina usage, flight speed, land speed, landing time, recovery time, reload speed, fire-rate, memory, lock-on time/range and of course various forms of defense.

Your independent armor values due matter, now I haven't run into anyone outright losing their legs, but I have had my arms blown out because their durability was too low and almost all big hits would destroy them.

>Also I cleared 100% of the missions/side missions.

With this little understanding I consider that a very impressive feat, though I guess if you brought the arm cannons for the final boss that it wasn't anything difficult.

>>16844601

Honestly only the end-game content is somewhat challenging.

>should I go from the start of the series or the PS2 games

Try them out from release date, and I do mean try. It's very possible that you might not enjoy the ps1 games given their frame-rate and controls, so if you're not enjoying one move to the next one.

My personal favorites are AC2 Another Age, Nexus and Last Raven, 3rd gen AC is probably the easiest to get into given how AC3 is pretty easy.

The controls are pretty shitty for the older games and they only implemented full analog support with Nexus, but it's really a matter of time getting used to them.

If you can run RPCS3 then by all means play 4Answer, I played it very late because I was throwing an autistic fit over how much they changed the series, but it's pretty good. I dislike the 5th gen entries though.

>You mean the reticle that has been a staple of AC since forever? Guess all AC games are bad then.

I don't recall it ever being this big, but I've only played a couple of AC games since I don't normally game on console.

>Nigger what the fuck are you doing the starting rifle sucks ass.

Kills trash enemies in 1-2 hits, dual wield it and it kills most arsenals in seconds. It's strictly better than the Pistol and SMG in terms of both DPS and range.

>Sniper rifles are designed for you to actually be a sniper and stay far away to deal big damage because they have a critical distance.

The problem is that they don't actually DO big damage, and their minimum effective range is longer than the maximum possible lock on. Even if you do use them at that range, their DPS is lower than the assault rifles. I get something like 150 damage per hit every few seconds from the snipers in testing, while I do 60 at the best assault rifle range and around 30 inside that range, but the assaults shoot at least 5x faster and don't require aim.

>SMGs are great for close range but drop off from medium while Assault rifles are good at mid and close ranges but have less damage potential and low fire rates.

Assaults do equivalent DPS even at the SMGs best range, especially when you factor that SMGS spend all their time reloading due to high fire rates/low mags. Then you add the better accuracy and longer maximum range, and WAY higher damage at optimum range, the SMG can't even compete

>Shotguns dominate anything close quarters and specially bigger enemies.

ONLY bigger. Against anything the size of an arsenal you have to barrel-stuff your enemy to do assault-equivalent damage. The main advantage of the shotgun is that the spread guarantees you some hits if the enemy is on screen at all, but given the extremely strong auto aim that's pretty much unnecessary.

>And even melee weapons have around 4 different categories with different properties.

Fast and slow, chain/no chain, and energy. Only the first of those categories matters. Slow weapons never chain so it becomes a question of fast+chain or slow+no chain. You can't chain a single target anyway, though giant bosses count as multiple targets. Energy melee weapons all suck and only exist to exploit elemental weaknesses if at all. The fact that they cost femto, don't chain, and don't do more damage than fast, chaining weapons normally leaves them with no niche beyond looking cool.

>I could go on and even talk about the difference in shoulder weapons but I think I made by point.

Categories there:

>Lock on missiles

Low fire rate/dps, plus extremely slow projectiles. Can be useful for a trivial amount of extra damage on character-arsenals or bosses, but everything else dies before the missile even hits. Each missile does around the same damage as an assault rifle bullet at point blank (non optimal) range

>Heat Seeking missiles

Almost the same, but instead of waiting for a lock on you shoot them continuously. In exchange, their tracking is almost non existent.

>Cannons and railguns

Three wildly different types, but they all have one thing in common: unlike the missiles, these all force you to stop shooting your main weapons to fire, which means they compete with your damage instead of adding to it. Only the laser cannon can actually out DPS the assault rifles, but at the cost of all your femto each shot, which eliminates your ability to damage boost with assault shift and mirage, it does so with no lock on and limited turning, meaning it only works on giant bosses anyway.

>Blitz

Probably the best choice for enemy Arsenals, because it's just fire and forget free damage. Not a lot of damage, and they get destroyed if you try to use them on bosses. I've also noticed that some arsenals go full evade-mode if you launch these at them, which can just end up making your life more difficult instead of easier.

>Support

The most genuinely useful section, assuming any part of the game is difficult enough you actually NEED heals, which is unlikely.

Do they affect those things? Yes. Does it feel like it makes any difference in practice? No. Mostly because the enemy never puts up any real threat, the defense stats are rendered meaningless and speed is only a convenience. The main difference in practice is going to be in fire rate/reload speed, which generally averages out to being insignificant differences between arms unless you use the most extreme examples.

The reason your recticle is big is because it matters. Each head has a different lock on range in terms of width and height (or radius if you have one of the circle ones, yes there's two styles). It's got the old AC style of lock on, not AC4/4A.

>starting rifle has better DPS

Learn to optimal range. SMGs burn EVERYTHING in the game down, Silver Ravens can carry you all the way to end game.

>assault DPS out of optimal range

You have no idea what you're talking about

>shotguns

Try double Azrael with Kusanagi arms. RoF with 1 shot reloading weapons is tied to RELOAD not RoF stat. You can get some RIDICULOUS dps with the shotguns if you build correctly.

>Melee

Energy weapons burst hard if your femto is full. Maces are great one hand wonders, as is the Rebellion sword. Normal swords are the easiest to use, as they don't need any particular micromanagement, and are good overall.

>shoulder weapons

Probably the most disappointing thing about this game. They're mostly there for the memes and in the case of cannons and railguns popping a massive burst on some poor sod every once in a while. Railgun is fun against Snatcher, the train boss. Main problem with these is that their optimal range is so damn long. As for missiles, I really don't like any of them. They just suck. Except for rampage hammer, single shot napalm mini-nuke. Actually has a niche use in PVP for STM draining. Blitz can be destroyed, so no, it's not free damage. You can and WILL lose it, and it doesn't reload.

>support

Devotion is the end all be all in PVP assuming they didn't BAN IT FLAT OUT LIKE THEY SHOULD HAVE. When PVP came out everyone and their dog ran devotion. I managed to cheese a few people with 2x Riot 3 with liberator arms. You proc the stun, and just throw the weapon at them for their ENTIRE hp bar. Like instant kills. Actually one of the funniest days I ever had, got like 5 people in a row the exact same way. Hand grenades can get some insane damage too, if you max out your throwing ability on your arms, I had hand grenades doing upwards of 2k to gunfort iirc. Per core. Also you RAILGUN the grenades, you barely have any arc on them.

>last bit

In story/ PvE, no your sight doesn't matter too much, larger ones make it MUCH easier. HOWEVER, you also have to look at lock on times, in hectic super close combat dash fests 0.3 lock on time over 0.6 makes a VERY big difference. Especially if you have the range to get some one well beyond your weapons range, as well as KEEPING them in the recticle.

>Learn to optimal range. SMGs burn EVERYTHING in the game down, Silver Ravens can carry you all the way to end game.

Not true. Here's some testing data:

The setup: Testing grounds firing range with a Silver Raven II in one hand and a Reaper III in the other, wearing the default (unsellable) starting armor.

Standing on the 250 range marker the Reaper III is in its optimal damage range. It hits for roughly 47-48 or 60-61 per shot, depending on which target pops up (based on their resists. Any closer and it does less, 23-24 or 30-31 at the 150 mark, same damage (23-24/30-31) point blank.

Now for the SMG. At the optimal range of 70 meters it does 16-17 or 19-21 damage. Any closer and it does 7-9 or 9-11.

19 seconds to fire 100 rounds for the SMG, 55 seconds for the AR. That gives us an average DPS value of 98 for the assault at optimal range, 49 anywhere else in effective range. For the SMG, the DPS is 96 at optimal range, 68 in "effective" range.

So in exchange for a roughly 30% damage increase you lose almost 70% of your effective range. If you manage to stay at optimal ranges, the AR is flat out better, it also has a wider optimal range, making it much easier to stay at that distance.

I also did some rough testing on melee, with Murakumo and Claiomh Solais. It did turn out that the energy weapon did noticably more damage, almost double in optimal conditions, while only being very slightly slower. So I suppose you are right about that, except that the chain component of Murakumo makes an even larger difference when it's able to be used (ie on bosses).

I miscalculated. The SMGs do 47 DPS at effective (not optimal) range, less than the 49 for the AR. In other words the SMGs are ALWAYS worse than the AR.

Furthermore, I tested with some better fire-rate arms. Using Sword breaker arms (200 fire rate, shit reload), I fire 100 AR rounds in 33 seconds, and 100 SMG rounds in 14 seconds. That comes to 82-164 DPS for the AR, and only 56-130 for the SMGs. High reload low fire rate arms might favor the SMGs instead, but I doubt they would top 82/164 DPS.

My fears tuned out to be true, the game is kinda shit. The mission structure is pretty whack due to missions only taking around 3 minutes to beat because you only have one basic task to do, combat is usually being interrupted by shitty story dialouge and unnecessary cutscenes, shit like "unkillable mechs" like what you just described and incredibly unlikable characters.

I thought we were talking about starting weapons. And I specifically said Silver Raven, not the SRII. And are you comparing variant to variant? Most weapons have 4 (Prime, F, S, and L, excluding the new M variants from exploration) different flavors they can be.

Huh, I honestly didn't expect the GRIII to have better DPS regardless of range. Truth be told I never did do the actual math on it. I still prefer SMGs simply due to ammo count. Or gun-arms, as the case may currently be (farming out 3 slots of random shit before I start getting wacky with my builds). And regardless of actual effectiveness, the SR1s WILL carry you all the way to end game. Mind you, TO end game, not INTO it. For that yeah you'll probably need to go for GRs or gun-arms, or something tailor made.

I honestly suspect there was a multipath campaign planned out that never came to fruition due to time/ financial constraints. Hell, each merc outfit could have had their own mini/ full campaign, Immortal innocence, bullet works and terrors being the Good/ Neutral/ Evil split. Or the Corporations themselves, you got Zen, Sky Union, Horizon, and I'd stick the Immortals or Terrors themselves in this lineup, assuming a 4a style campaign split. It's frankly like biting into a brownie and getting a glob of flour, egg and sugar the didn't get mixed properly instead.

You were talking about the starting rifle and then you bring up the Reaper III which is one of the last AR's in the game, No shit Reaper III is good, it's probably one of the best AR's, but you were talking about the starting rifle in your previous post.

So I went in and even made a dual wielding rifle build and tested that out on an end-game mission only to grow bored because although the damage is decent on other pilots the fire-rate and reload are way too slow, which is why the SMG's are so good because you effectively dump all your bullets on your target before it can run out of your reticle, it also reloads quicker. Even removing that SMG's flat out deal more dps, just equip dual arm AR's and compare them to the dual arm SMGs, the AR's aren't bad but the SMG arms flat out burn everything down. SMG's also have more ammo.

They were pretty much the meta during the demo for giant Immortals and I don't think they nerfed them, if anything I'm pretty sure they buffed AR's.

I went back and realized that being mecha Revolver Ocelot was a fucking god tier idea because these handguns actually deal a good chunk of damage and have an amazingly fast bullet speed, They are still bellow dual Stargazers but they are a nice backup once I'm out of fempto.

What I got out of your calculations is that both SMGs and Rifles are viable, proving that there is choices and build variety in just that small part alone.

You mentioned before that armor makes no difference in practice, seeing how you can't do any end-game content because that's crashing on your end I can see where you're coming given that there's barely any challenge in SP missions, however they absolutely do make a difference when you're fighting an entire faction by yourself, bring low durability and focus only on speed and your arms get blown off by a few attacks removing you of around 50% of your damage potential for the rest of the mission. focus too much on defense and try to face tank it and you'll become a sitting duck every time you land and you'll burn through your stamina, which will force you to land, which takes much longer to recover from.

Oh yeah this game was made with a McDonalds happy meal budget, the story is the most obvious part, the game has divergent paths but they are ultimately meaningless, it's a neat detail that if you spare Savior when his arsenal malfunctions that he shows up and fights by your side later on. Apparently there's more of these little things because they influence how you get certain allies.

There's also the whole cyborg upgrade thing, with how much impact it has on your character it is fucking impossible that they didn't have anything tying into this. The fact that you are pretty much the only character with some serious upgrades makes it seem all the more strange specially with Grief, I was expecting him to be upgrading himself through the story becoming more and more machine but nothing fucking happens.

What I think happened was that they had both ideas, they wanted a faction decision based campaign but they also wanted a machine vs human kind of conflict with the player character, and because they couldn't get both to work they settled on none of them and kept pieces of it.

I consider the reaper series to be the starter rifle, the II and III are just leveled-up versions of the same thing. They feel exactly the same to use, they just do more damage, maybe slightly faster. And yes I was comparing the "base" versions of both guns.

>just equip dual arm AR's and compare them to the dual arm SMGs, the AR's aren't bad but the SMG arms flat out burn everything down.

Dual AR/SMG is exactly double the DPS of single AR/SMG. Dual AR is pretty much what I used for the entire game, with dual laser as my alternate weapon set in order to exploit damage vulnerability (some enemies are vulnerable to energy, some to bullet). Dual AR is flat out better than dual SMG.

>SMG's also have more ammo.

Their ammo is equivalent. SMGs tend to do about 1/3rd the damage of ARs and have about 3x the ammo and fire rate.

> it also reloads quicker

Reload is where SMGs fall behind. Their fire rate is insane, but as a result they have to reload more often. In order to do the same total damage that the Reaper III would do in 100 bullets (6 reloads), the Silver Raven II would need to reload 15 times. SMGs benefit more when you have improved reload speed compared to ARs, but I doubt that specializing in reload will ever bring SMG DPS over AR DPS with full fire rate support.

>which will force you to land, which takes much longer to recover from.

MP vs is probably a different story, but I found in SP that fighting Arsenals while on the ground was best. The enemy will land and fight on the ground as well (unless they have a sniper AI). That means you no longer have to track vertically, which is good for the extremely fast enemies like Grief where you struggle to even figure out where the hell they went when they teleport off screen. That also means you can have a tough body and fast legs, for the best of both worlds.

The meta for giant immortals especially Gunfort has always been Bazookas. No seriously, just unload at the belly, you wreck like 70% of his hp in 30s.

Focusing on defense is perfectly fine. If you go full hulk (Liberator, make sure to paint your upper part green and legs purple), and just melee things to death. You can roll almost all the AI fights with full Lib. Terrors gives you some issues because Sniper AI is actually competent (read: it runs like a bitch and takes potshots at you, Crown Princess on the train defense mission made me rage my first playthrough). And as for boost as a fat boy: it's actually the opposite, most of the bulky armors have GOOD STM regen/ burn rates, meaning you don't use much, and you regen what you use real fast.

>Klondike

Can't argue that. I love his brother Red Dog (BROOOOOOOOTHER). I fucking wish they had a proper budget for this game, it could actually have been fantastic.

Grief is a machine on the inside (he has blink, which is all the way down the body tree). There's a few other Outers that are augmented.

>>16846430

They are effectively different weapons. That and GRIII. SR only has a second tier.

On a stationary target I have zero doubt ARs smash SMGs, but in fast close-medium range combat, you're never going to get more than a few AR rounds on target, when with the BRRT of an SMG you can get at the very least half. Or all, or none. But that's what gitting gud is for.

>>16846445

The one exception for me was Red Dog and Gargantua. Also fun fact: the VA for Red Dog and Klondike is the same guy (English). Which is probably why I enjoyed when the two of them were in a mission, especially the Black Lotus one where Red Dog puts his brother down.

You are really splitting hairs on the weapons, you get the same kind of damage spread regardless of which tier you use. (tests using default armor, no relevant skills)

>HAW-R01 Grim Reaper

31-38 damage at optimal range 15-19 effective range. 40.5 seconds for 100 rounds. 85 DPS optimal, 42 DPS effective

>HAW-M01 Silver Raven

12-17 damage at optimal range, 6-9 effective range. 19.5 seconds for 100 rounds. 74 DPS optimal, 38 effective.

Maybe the SMG is a little better burst, but the awful range kills any utility it MIGHT have, especially when its DPS is so inferior. At least pistols have the benefit of low memory usage. They are worse even than SMGs for damage but at least they do SOMETHING different.

It's a shame since there's a skeleton of a solid game here and there's clearly room for a mecha game equivalency of a God Eater or Code Vein type of thing, but it's lacking in too many ways and never managed to balance the cut scene bullshit vs gameplay.

>splitting hairs

GR1 is a medium range fairly rapid firing assault rifle with good ammo capacity. GRII is a more punchy version with slighty longer optimal range. GRIII is basically a sniper rifle for those who don't want to use a sniper rifle. But again, the conversation started with me saying SR could carry you to end game. Which it can, it's safe, and easy.

>range meaning anything when you can boost around like fucking sonic on speed

Range really only matters on a few bosses, and maybe sniper AI. Which you chase down to the edge of the map and watch them slowly float back towards you when they cross the yellow border anyway. And those bosses are end game content.

476591  No.16846790

>>16846777

Range mostly matters for two reasons: One, you are inside enemy melee range, giving you not enough time to react if they try to melee you (SMG effective range is ENTIRELY inside enemy melee). Two, the enemy is moving away from you, or is already a distance away, and time spent chasing after them is time lost doing damage. SMG range is pathetically small so it makes a pretty big difference in both cases.

>>16846790

Also for the GR varients, each one does more DPS than the last, and probably more total damage over ammo capacity as well. That's what matters most over anything.

>>16846790

Third reason range matters: the further away you are, the more the enemy has to move to get off screen, allowing for better sustained damage on your part.

Wait, does upgrade yourself in the lab have any consequences later in the story? I've been avoid touching that part because the first upgrade said something about serious consequence/change and I don't want to get hit by some random debuffs in later part of the story.

Lock on speed is actually far more important, as it helps keep your weapons actually on target. On my current gun-arm build I have .6 lock on, some of the strais in exploration 2 drop lock whenever they dash. If you can get that .6 down to something like .3, you won't lose the lock.

Ah balls, forgot to mention. You WANT to be very inside melee range. Melee damage scales the farther you travel up to the max dash distance. Face hugging is actually IDEAL in a SMG vs melee situation.

Melee damage doesn't actually scale with distance in my testing. It's a simple Yes or No. Either they don't move at all because you are already at melee range, or they move any amount and do max damage. Being at 70 meters will guarantee you take max melee damage and can't dodge. Being at 150-250 meters will keep you from getting hit in melee at all, because no weapon travels that far.

You definitely do less damage if you face hug something and mash melee. With a bit of distance you'll do nominal damage, with a 'perfect' hit you'll get 25% bonus damage.

Fair, I can believe there are 3 tiers. I got a few "perfect" hits in testing but I couldn't replicate them at all so I dismissed them as a fluke.

In any case it's not more distance=more damage. As long as you aren't hugging their nuts you take "full" (non-bonus) damage, assuming you get hit. Problem is hugging their nuts = guarantee getting hit, whereas staying at 100+ meters and just backpedaling guarantees never getting hit at all. 0 damage is way better than low-damage.

Max range of dash = perfect hit. It is quite literally, more distance, more damage. That little step back after smacking someone can be the difference between 100 or 800 damage. On top of stagger being kinda garbage in this game. If you're staggered you take zero damage until you can move again. And face hugging builds stagger like nothing else (excluding railguns and bazookas). SUPER frustrating in exploration II missions when all the fuckwads you're playing with are running melee or bazookas.

Its somewhat safer to be hugging a target so you can use attack-enhancing femto at less risk, and use speed femto to close the gap/keep close. Not using femto shift correctly is the #1 mistake noobs make if you ask me.

Why does Grief acting like some legendary unbeatable hot shit? Didn't I just wreck his arse last mission? Also, am I supposed to care about this person death? Because the only impression I have of them is they talked my ear off some 20 missions ago (and then I don't even sure it's this particular person because all of them have been talking nonstop every fucking missions).

Grief is this game's jehovah's witness. If they were evil. Which I could be convinced they are. He preaches and monologues about his moon god. You never were meant to care for him, just put him down like the mad dog he is.

Until the big reveal at the end where it turns out you are some kind of clone of Grief and his "moon god" just wants to take humanity to the stars. I could also be completely wrong here but the ending scene if you choose to follow the Dominator's plan seems to imply that this all actually took place on Mars and then you move on to Earth afterward.

it gets a little more fun once you find other weapons beside rifles, smgs and shitty missile back weapons and the fight other arsenals missions start. But there is no magic "oh shit this suddenly got awesome" point If you hate it after the first three missions, you'll hate it at higher rank as well.

SP bosses usually gives you three things, sometimes four.

>battle data

>blueprient to go with that battle data

>Mk I - Mk III of a certain upgrade

>sometimes Mk I of another upgrade

As I understand it, destroying more weakpoints = higher chance of more drops. It just so happens that Snatcher seldomly exposes his, which is why I'm not even sure you can get the blueprints from SP.
