This isn't from some random loser on Twitter, this is coming from Colin Moriarty, a guy who actually knows people at Insomiac and teased their Spider-Man game before it was officially announced.

I doubt it'll be a sequel to the 2016 game. You have to remember that was a movie tie-in game, not a proper reboot. The film fucking bombed and the game, though not bad, is considered one of the weakest in the series. They'll make note of that.

The 2016 game wasn't a reboot, it was a tie-in for the film. The film was also awful, but they didn't make it so that's now really their fault.
Having played it, the game itself is actually fine, a bit buggy but fine. It's the story that's total shit, but again that's not really their fault.
It's also lacking a bunch of stuff that was already standard in R&C, like mini-games, fun tools and an arena mode. It had that one racing game, but from what I remember it was literally one track.

To be fair, the last two live action versions already did that. PS4 Peter's writing isn't so bad in comparison. It's just everything else in the game that's bad. It's mediocre. I enjoyed it all things considered, but it was probably the most bare bones and basic Ratchet and Clank game since Quest For Booty, and at least they game wasn't being sold at full AAA price,
I hope the new game isn't a sequel to the movie game, but I really can't see how R&C's story can progress from A Crack in Time.
Into The Nexus already felt unnecessary with how aimless its story was, despite the game itself being good.

Look it up, there are better explanations than what I can provide. Now you only see a few games like Hollow Knight or Shovel Knight get that level of attention anymore.

I don't believe Insomniac could change the formula in a good way given their recent track record has only been becoming worse devs. Maybe make a spinoff game or a similar concept to Ratchet and Clank, but that wouldn't happen anyway since companies seem to only reboot and never innovate as much as they used to.

Technically the 2016 game had a framing story that was Qwark, between R&C1 and GC, saying that the movie got it wrong, and telling the "real" story. So it was always just a story-within-a-story anyway, and the original is still canon.

The comics beat them to it slightly, but that doesn't justify it. The comics division doesn't have control over that shit anyway. They're exactly like the old ones but with fancier graphics. Personally, my favorite is still Going Commando, but all the main series games are great. Even the lesser games are just spinoffs that were marketed and sold as budget titles anyway.

I disagree. While I think it pales in comparison to the original, and might be the worst main game in the series, I do think they at least tried to pay respect to the old fans quite a bit. I just dislike that they didn't include all the old levels, and the only new levels were all boring and had practically no platforming. That's a big problem, but it's not like they were trying to erase the old game. They repeatedly reference it as a different game.
R&C2016 is a great example of how video games overall have become shit. It's garbage compared to the original and almost all of the sequels. It's still among the best games this generation.

I would have said I would like to see Drek again, I always thought he was the best villain in the series, but they'd probably treat him as a Trump analogue instead.

Most of them aren't, though. Most of them are just straight up the same levels from the original game. Only one has a significant portion added. There are a few new levels, but they suck compared to the levels they cut.
I don't think the game is the worst thing ever, but it sucks big time compared to the original. Luckily, the original is so good that even a shitty downgrade of it is still pretty good, if you ignore what it is badly copying.
I do like the weapons and exp system and stuff though.

First of all, the story is secondary. Saying there shouldn't be more games because of the story is retarded. Secondly, there have been a bunch of games since A Crack in Time. Spinoffs, but that doesn't really matter when it comes to the stories, which were all pretty good. Also, Into the Nexus was a great ending to the series. Or at least it hit the tone of that. It still left enough threads hanging to pick up after. But even if they didn't, they could just do new stuff.
Although I still want them to remember that Max Apogee was left as a plot thread, and A Crack in Time linked Angela with him, so they can deal with that as well.

Wow. I'd argue the faces in the Arkham games aren't the greatest but someone on the modelling/animation team really knew what he liked when doing his job. Harley in her classic outfit, Catwoman in general, that Joker-lite lady in an office outfit, Talia Al Ghoul, Poison Ivy, hell even Freeze's wife was pretty hot.
