I recently installed Grid 2 and Dirt Rally since I had them on my backlog, they were OK but it also reminded me when I played Tokyo Xtreme Racer on the Dreamcast, are there any good racing games with some balance between simulation and arcade feeling? on Grid 2 it feels like I always drive on ice and no matter what setup I use the AI vehicles always push me even when I am the one doing all the pushing (not to mention how they instantly recover from any minor bump), Dirt Rally feels OK but it takes the simulation aspect all the way up.

I gotta go with the old NFS games considering that. There's tuning but it's no Gran Turismo, AI can be almost Burnout-tier cocksuckers and for how old they are I think some of the road effects hold up. Most tracks are good too, somewhere between real world and arcadey.

Ridge Racer Type 4 and Ridge Racer 5 are one of the best games that balance out simulation and arcade feeling and the aesthetic of these game is superbe
