That's because dual monitors require the image to be able to be cut down the middle, and have both sides work. That means perfectly symmetrical, or perfectly asymmetrical but balanced right down the cut. Which means can't just grab any hi res piece of art and put it to work. And that is assuming you don't have one of the more weird dual monitor set ups. Work for instance, was better having one monitor rotated vertically so pdfs/code were easily read on one.

Yeah, it's really easy when you have just two 1920x1080 screens and two 1920x1080 wallpapers, otherwise they need to be manually scaled/arranged and then pieced together. That is, on Windows. The way windows handles wallpapers by just taking one image for everything is totally stupid. On Linux it's much easier to do with feh which can just take multiple images as arguments.
