I liked the Total War games up to Attila(yes it's optimized like shit and the AI is only worth a damn with a couple of mods but the amount of mechanics they added to it like the expanded economy and political system is a plus for me. Not enough to buy it but after Warhammer I'm not buying anything from CA anymore). How are the Ultimate General games in comparison? Basically the negro is a guy from another continent who ended up and he's barely in the game unless you count his DLC which takes him to his desert continent.
There's like a blade of galadriel who is an annoying cunt but you also don't get to see much of her, and on the other end there's a cute general's daughter who wants to do more to save the city she's defending whom you also don't seem to interact with a lot and she disappears after the first chapter. Really the only other character you seem interact a lot besides Celibrimbor is Shelob who's barely in spider form and instead favors a pretty lady in a dress instead

The ps2 version is a literal reskin of StE. The true game is the Wii version, which is only hampered by it's motion control layout. That said, they aren't too bad to work with (especially when you learn that to grab, just hold Down on the Wimote D pad and shake the wiimote instead of shaking wiimote and nunchaku). The game lets you basically make your own story by choosing to land your monster in certain areas where you spend a day. Different actions aligning you with different factions; avoid destroying buildings and earth military while attacking alien military = earth mecha monsters and military won't attack you and will help you.
>Godzilla PS4
This is basically a spirtual successor to Godzilla Generations; the monsters you play as are slow and the game centers around you mostly destroying the stages you are in with your goal to destroy specific buildings. There is combat, but the game was built with Godzilla as the main playable characters, so the others monsters are not balanced in the slightest, making some matchups laughably easy or impossibly hard. Main issue is it's grindy as fuck to get upgrades.

I don't know how you'd go about pirating it but I've heard of people disabling most of the telemetry shit on windows 10 with a pi hole (raspberry pi running a dns sever that sends all the Microsoft shit to a null ip address). so you could try that. otherwise unironically try Linux. proton, wine and lutris work great plus there are actually a ton of Linux native games now and emulation.

Easiest would be RetroArch on either a cheap-ass purpose-built PC or an old laptop or something, using your TV as an AV output. I absolutely despise RetroArch as a concept but I can't argue with its ease of use, especially for this purpose; once you've got it set up with rom/core pathways set and controllers preconfigured you can't really beat it for simplicity.

Played the original Yakuza 1 and 2 on the ps2. The fighting is pretty clunky in 1, so the remake is probably better, though I started with 1 so didn't see the difference until later. Yakuza 2 irons that out significantly and is fun to play. I think the music in Yakuza 2 is superior to the remake, but that is just my opinion. Heard some complaints about the Kiwami 2 combat compared to other the earlier games though.

Are any of the f2p loot n shooters(Warframe, Destiny 2 etc) worth playing? I like Diablo and making fun builds, but when I pirated Borderlands I couldn't get 30 minutes in because the gameplay was so shit. It felt so floaty and without weight in the slightest I couldn't bother with it and the movement system in either game looks fairly neat.

Warframe and Destiny are both better than Borderlands. If you had to pick one, I suppose I'd recommend Destiny for polish and Warframe for content. Warframe feels more "free to play" in its business model, so be wary of that.
It bears saying though that I'd recommend not playing any of those games. They're a waste of your time and looking back at it, you'll just regret having lost time on any of those types of games. They're really more like skinner boxes than games. Play any of the amazing games out there you have never played before.

I played it for free, it was actually pretty fun. even their lootnshoot aspect is done in a way grinding makes sense (whatever you do it either contributes to more loot or ways to get better loot), while the daily shit you do gives you coins for their cosmetic shit.

Am I the only person that thinks Sakurai either secretly hates Fire Emblem or hates that Fire Emblem got too popular? He always gives Fire Emblem the worst representation in Smash Bros ever since 4 and no matter how much people complain to Sakurai to give Fire Emblem good representation in Smash Bros i.e. any character that uses a weapon other than a sword, Sakurai will always go for the main playable swordlord/avatar in the most recent Fire Emblem game no matter how stale the FE protagonist is. But yet he doesn't push his main playable character/avatar on Pokemon despite Pokemon having a main playable avatar character in those games. Also, Sakurai's favorite FE game is Genealogy of the Holy War but that game gets the short end of the stick when it comes to Smash Bros i.e. only getting one remix while the newer FE games (i.e. Awakening & Fates) get more remixes, having like 2 spirits at best.
I don't get this. Why does Sakurai give Fire Emblem in Smash Bros the worst representation as much as possible despite him saying that he's a fan of the series?

My problem isn't that there are too many FE characters in Smash Bros. Nintendo and Sakurai can add as many first party characters to Smash Bros as much as they want, be it from Fire Emblem or any other of their million IPs that Nintendo owns. My biggest grip is that how terrible the FE representation in Smash Bros has become ever since 4. Seven out of the eight FE reps in Smash Bros so far has always been main character swordlords no matter what (And Yes, I count Ike & Byleth as swordlords to an extant despite Ike being a mercenary and Byleth being a professor) and Byleth is a bad choice for the Three Houses rep because of how much of a boring character Byleth is plus Byleth using the Hero Relics from the three main lords of Three Houses, were they actually have character to them might I add, is salt in an open wound. Hell, I would of been ok with Edelgard being the Three Houses rep instead of Byleth and this is coming from someone who hates Edelgard (Although Dimitri would of been the best Three Houses rep IMHO). I can't understand why Sakurai keeps giving FE in Smash Bros bad representation of how the series is to a point where I think he's doing this on purpose.
As for Pokemon, I give that series a free pass because that series is somehow isn't effected by Sakurai's "main character/avatar character as the fighter" autism and every Pokemon rep, outside of Brawl's/Ultimate's Pokemon Trainer is the Pokemon themselves. If it was the case then every Pokemon rep would be a variation of Pokemon Trainer but not the one from Brawl. Instead, it would be PT on the battlefield fighting while only using Pokemon for his/her special moves and it would be done for like 10 times in a row.

I dunno if writing and balance are necessarily better now than they were 15 years ago. That was 2005, after all, not 198X. Really, modern conveniences are more things like "I don't have to hit a button three times every time I want to talk to a guy in front of me." Changes to writing, pacing, or balance would be modern game design, which are arguably stylistic choices. Now, I can say that I wouldn't go back and play, say, Final Fantasy I or II in the original NES incarnations because of the pacing–not pacing as in how the story is set up, but because it takes an extra couple of seconds to do literally everything, and those seconds add up when you're doing the action a thousand times. Also there're things like the programming in the first few FFs being so bad that the game wouldn't automatically retarget if a monster died during the turn. THAT kind of thing being changed in newer games can make me not play an older game.

Fraid not. PS4 exclusive and like I said, they are a BITCH to find now considering a decent copy with the case can be 300+ bucks. Best thing to do is check GameStop’s website to see if a store near you has a copy as they are still selling it for a normalish price there. There’s no way to get it digitally any more and I guess even in Japan they weren’t able to do a large run of the game even though it sold well and was well received which is why you see the massive price jump.

My point that I'm trying to get across is that Sakurai could of had a much bigger influence on/was the one that chosen the first fighter pass line up. It doesn't make sense to me that Nintendo would somehow decided to force Sakurai to add the protagonist of the latest Fire Emblem in Smash Ultimate's DLC when in Smash 4 his dev team convinced him that Corrin, who game wasn't even out in the west yet might I add, would make a good fighter meaning that Nintendo let Sakurai add Corrin in Smash 4's DLC and Nintendo really wasn't forcing him at all. I just think that Sakurai is lying to our faces about how Byleth got in by giving what I see as a massive contradiction to what happen right now vs what happened in the past.

How is this possible, or is it just an approximated inaccurate number?

Plenty of properties get resurrected later on, anyhow, unless they get supplanted by another one–like how Marathon went away in favor of Halo. Every company's going to have its own ideas on when resurrecting a property is a good idea and when it's not. Usually a property only goes away for good when it wastes a bunch of money (e.g. Duke Nukem) or when it gets bought by a large entity who wants to deliberately or negligently kill it for whatever reason.

More like a barbarian elf, but you might want to try Heretic 2. You play as a buff elf who can flip and jump and can fuck things up with a staff that has quite a neat combat system, kind of like a prototype to the Jedi Knight games. There's also spells and whatnot but they're magic bows, magic staves, magic crossbows, etc. You might like it.

Depends on which ones you mean, the partial one you get are for unlocking Zarak, the demonlord character. You have to beat the game with every character to get the whole thing. Then you get a password when you beat the game with him to unlock the final ending IIRC.

It's extremely generic and doesn't have much to say or show. Obsidian basically tried to do Baldur's Gate without the D&D license, so it's a photocopy of the most watered down setting there is. There's nothing terrible about it, it's not very buggy or unfinished, nor are there any big glaring flaws besides the shitty backer content that is pointless. But you can feel that the devs just went through the motions and that they weren't very passionate about what they were making.
If you haven't played Icewind Dale or the Baldur's Gate series then you should play those first, as they might not be as modern and slick, but they had a lot of heart and are much more fun to play.

Is there a reason Mechanicus wants your GPU to burn? I run Vermintide 2 on High settings without it reaching 65 degrees but for whatever reason the Omnissiah demands my RX 580 be at 75C. It's within acceptable temps but odd for a turn based tactics game.

If I were to make a thread about a singular franchise and games based on that franchise, what would be the best option here?
1. Including torrent links to the movie/show/comics
2. including a link to streamed online version of the movie/show/comic, so an anon doesn't need to download them and they are just a click away.
3. if it's manly a movie that is actually good, then Webm the entire movie in parts, and posting it in the thread. (the first time I webmed a whole movie it was 480p in 14 parts, and if it were a comic that would take up allot of the thread if I where to post every page)

A few years ago I recall there being a few game of the week threads, it was a good idea, and i'd like to try the same concept, The thing is that there are some games I'd like to put in, that are better with the context of the franchise they are apart of, I just used Super Heroes, and Star Wars an example.
To better put my point If I were to include, 1 or all of these Hulk games in a Game/Games of the Week thread, around the Hulk. Ultimate Destruction Could work on it's own, but the other 2 I feel it would be a good idea to include sources to the movies they are based on.

I dunno if anyone can really speak to that except as regards their own experience. Trying to generalize is probably going to get things wrong for a good portion of the folks out there. I accept killing in games as a handwave for competition of whatever kind. Sure, someone bleeding oil instead of blood would be eye-rolling, but there's no actual harm in either case and, too, the abstract idea of killing doesn't draw me to a game. When America's Army was still being played, the MOUT scenarios were only less fun because you had a limited selection of tools, not because the other guy sat down instead of dying when you hit him. I have no way to tell if some instinct is involved or if it's just the sense of competition or accomplishment. My guess is that it's not instincts.

After playing (Super?) Metroid: Zero Mission, and AM2R, I can't stand playing Metroid and Metroid 2 in their original forms anymore. I love them, and I have fond memories of playing them, but I'll be damned if the QoL improvements their remakes brought to the table didn't make them far better games in every aspect.
Blaster Master Zero is a remake of Blaster Master, but it keeps remind you that there's an actual plot now, where the NES one was just some BS cobbled together for "I MAKED THIS" purposes. Kinda. While playing solo, your partner can be used like a regular pin, with Shiki being tap on an enemy, Joshua being down slash an enemy, and Beat being scratch empty space to summon. If you attack in tandem with them, you get a cross combo bonus to both your damage and sync rate.
There's also co-op mode, where you use one joy con and your partner uses another, with expanded attacks for your partner, but you have to use the joy cons like pointers and it just doesn't have the same accuracy as using a stylus.

I recently started playing DoW2, pretty good game, but not even close to the original, specially since it's also very different. I finished Chaos Rising recently, and it was pretty good, currently about to finish the Eldar campaign in Retribution, so I have a few questions.

I recently installed CFW on my 3DS, and can now finally play the titles i missed out on. What games would you nerds recommend? I already have .cias for Animal Crossing, MH3 (haven't been able to find one for MH4), and Kirby Triple Deluxe and Robobot. On a related note, I have the old 3ds model. Apparently the New 3DS has better emulation and 3D, and also that little C-stick thing on the right hand side of the console. Plus, I've heard that the XL models are more comfortable to hold, in addition to having a nicer screen. Is it worth upgrading if I could find a deal for say, <70 bucks?

3DS as a system has to have the files as .cia to install anyhow. You want even more tedium, consider some uploads are .3ds only, which means for use with an actual system they also have to be converted to .cia before even installing. And in my experiences, some of those refuse to convert.

Now shit's fucked in a diffferent way. The bottom of the screen isn't visible and I can't look down, despite being able to look up, in an area where I need to see a moving platform over instant death spikes. It wasn't like this before, and the vertical alignment of the screen is just fine the pause menu. Adjusting the resolution does nothing. I can only see the platform if I hang off the edge, which I can't do in the middle of this area. If I go to the area just left of this, I can look down, though likely not as much as I'm supposed to be able to.

Yes, try to find a N3DS though, the larger screen of the XL models make certain 3DS games look blurry as shit unless you play with 3D on all the time (monster hunter 4U and pokemon moon being the most notorious examples), and most vanilla N3DS' come with dual IPS screens (N3DXL is a gamble, N2DSXL opted for dual TN) and a c-stick that can be modded without unscrewing the handheld, you can also swap the faceplates if you want. Stick with your O3DS if you can't find a N3DS, the N3DSXL and N2DSXL aren't worth it.

I tried Fracture but Whole, and it is shit compared to Stick of Truth, specially after playing one right after the other, and it has nothing to do with writing or, well, kinda.
For starters, plot-wise, the game relies heavily on the Stick of Truth for story and continuity, kinda, and that tie-in episode that was kinda shit. Secondly, they use The Coon and Friends, which is a lot less imaginative than the stick of truth's medieval setting and jokes, and more than that, coon and friends in the show is fucking shit. On top of that, the whole game also uses the Coon and Friends "shade", making things pop up in a weird way instead of the regular "plain" look of the show. Pic related is how most of the game looks. Then the game is just extremely convoluted, stick of truth system was extremely simple but it was because it didn't try to be too deep, this one is just too complicated and not in a good way, making the game simply tedious, not only in combat, but some other shit, like literally shitting in other people's houses, which used to be a simple "smash a button to get a turd", into some tedious time consuming minigame you will do in most houses. Combats last too long, and they also recicle a lot of jokes from the first game, but this time with super heroes!

Around season 7, I'd say specifically season 10 and I know because it was around the time Stan's voice was changed in the spic version, and also around the time the Warcraft episode was released, it is downhill from there on.

The combat is realtime or Pause Hell, you're either getting ganked by AI that's just hit/hit/hit while you bring up a menu to hit them back or you can set the game to auto-pause on 'events' which is just as unintuitive and maddening even when you know when it's gonna pause.
